look......with all respect to ur ( opnion ) the reson why harry potter is such a magnfscinet(sp) character is becouse he is like all of us he is extremly normal with a wicked past (plus more things of cours) now.........all of hav those bits of charctrestics(sp) that stand up about us and so is harry's .........see harry -in the first 2 books- was way braver and did things that he wouldn't do now (as u think) BECAUSE he did not know that much about himself , his histry , his family and his biggest enmy.......therfore that would create alot of pain that would perhaps stand in his fast actions and disisions... ummm........so maybe u should stop expecting JK to stareo-type harry and all that is happing...

I totally agree with all the comments that have shown that most of us prefer our heroes 'realistic'; to behave in a way we can relate to; in a way we should expect oursellves to behave in yucky or scary situations. All of this highlights the moral of the story: The person that you are is decided by your choices not your power, talent, money etc, therefore, we can all be heroes. (I think I'm gonna cry.. or salute the flag.. or..something.. ) BUT, I gotta say I'm a smidgen worried that Harry hasn't got even a glimmer of a hope when it comes to that occumlency(sp) or the silent spell-casting OR any idea how to disarm the horcruxes. Kinda thought he'd get the occulency thing down a little bit in the 6th. He's a worry

i think we all need to remember that harry isnt suposed to look like he can never beat vold he is suposed to look like the under dog that is what is going to make his victory all the sweeter. harry has always been a champion even wen he dosnt win he's always going to look a little sus but i bet thats is what is going to win the fight agaiinst vold for him because everyone he has ever came up against has always underestimate him because he dosnt always look like he can win, i know he has had help but he has not died yet has he?????

Yeah I'm with you 100%. Harry is underestimated and his victories have come from guts and determinatiuon rather than doing any particularly amazing magic. still though, the first book hinted to the fact that he might have had some remarkable hidden and inate magical talent. For example, Olivander saying we can expect remarkable things from 'you Mr Potter', Harry being able to raise his broom quickly, being able to fly first go and Hermione saying that he was a "great wizard" unlike herself who was only clever with book stuff AND Harry topped DADA. We certainly haven't seen anything since then to suggest that he is a great wizard at all. I don't think he has learnt any new magic in the last couple of books.

Harry's not a fully trained wizard yet. All the deatheaters are alot more advanced than he is. But i do agree that Harry has a long way to go before he's ready to face Voldy 1 on 1. I reckon Jo's got a bit carried away on that bit. Unless she plans on letting Harry win by pure luck AGAIN. Thats starting to get a bit boring actually.

... Anywho... Harry is not yet a fully grown or trained wizard. He is not expected to escape Voldemort alone, and definetely not expected to defeat Voldemort surrounded by a lot of Death Eaters, yet he managed to anyway and you can't tell me that was on luck alone. You name all of these things that Harry has managed to do throughout his school years, and you complain when he panics around a bunch of walking dead people. Okay, so he screws up once. It only adds realism and depth to his character. As for the momentary duel with Snape, they were his spells! Of course he has no chance against him. Many people have already said, it would get very boring very quickly if Harry always came out on top. And you ask, if Harry has talent why isn't he as good as Hermione is in academics?? There are many areas in which he could have talent, not just academics. Harry definetely has a lot of growing to do, there's no doubt about that. But to go as far as calling him a wimp?? Considering all he has done, I totally disagree. |

harry was not only trying to beat snape with his own spells but was in serioue emotional despair over dumbldors death. I think if he had been clear headed and not so emotional at the time he could of done some serious damage to snape. Harry at that moment was so devistated by what he just witnessed that he could not think straight remember harry is first and foremost human with all the feelings that intells
