Dude, all of you thoughts rock! But I think I get what Artemisa was saying, though it was more about Neville than Trevor. But I still don't think that JK would continually talk about Trevor always missing without a good explanation, unless it's just a joke, then that's cool too. But think about it, she always wrote about how Scabbers had one toe missing, and look what happened to him! And I think that Neville is pretty brave actually, he's faced ALOT of his own nightmares enough.

Psyduck:Nice thoughts on Neville's Grandma, I think you might be onto somethin'.

BuffyBuff: Maybe Regulas isn't dead, he might be in DEEP hidihng, yet he could also be dead, no one knows. But I just don't think that he would be Trevor. And I agree, I had always imagined the basin refilling with that potion for one reason: Voldemort would have been stuck up and thought that whoever tried to drink the potion would have died, that being the intention of the potion.

*stares into space with thought* Or...(which is the answer for everything I say)....I'm crazy!

i think it was a brilliant idea to think that the toads getting lost as a disguse for it to roam the castle looking for somthing.
although im unsure if j.k. who do the animagus thing again.
but kpr is very right in saying that only harry, ron, hermione, neville's pets are mentioned.
im still very unsure and although id love to think that was the case im pretty sure that neville losing his toad is probs only meant to help build neville's character

Nice thoughts. I see what your saying, maybe Trevor's just building up Neville's confidence or something like that! Interesting thinking.....

I like this idea about Trevor. But I don't think Regulus fits into the scheme of things the way he seems to be being fitted.
Let's take it one step at a time...
Trevor the toad is supposed to be magical, everything in Harry's world is; owls bring mail, cats have some weird - and not fully described - means of communication, but what does a toad do? I mean, if they were once in fashion, there must've been a reason for the attraction. So, Trevor can do... something.
Trevor is constantly trying to make a bid for freedom. Why? Could be he needs some alone time to search the castle. Could be - oh! - just a thought... toads are old fashioned, right? What if magical toads lived a lot longer than our ones? Maybe Trevor belonged to someone before Neville, and it could've been a Slytherin. Or any house, for that matter. Trevor might be trying to get to where his previous owner was last known to be. Kind of the way Kreacher clings to Sirius's mother and the other Blacks.
One more really off the wall idea... maybe Trevor's magic is a different sort of communication. Maybe the toad knows when it would be to Neville's advantage to speak up. Could be that Trevor's breaking the ice where Neville would just clam up and pretend no one noticed him.

I like the last idea. It's fuzzy, but it could be going somewhere.
Neville's uncle BOUGHT the toad, so I doubt that he coincidentially belonged
to anyone important (unless it's a serious, powerful magic thing).

Hmm, weird thoughts, but they're still good.

Oh! Since we're throwing out weird ideas, maybe (to go along with your theory that he lives a long time) he's a horcrux! Dun dun dun! That would be a weird twist....

I don't think Trevor is a horcrux. I was trying to steer away from the whole Regulus-is-alive-and- he/Trevor - is-a-horcux thing. Oh, I'm so adept at this. Not.
Anyway, my biggest reason for Trevor not being a horcrux is that if anything alive is going to be a horcrux, it's gotta be Nagini. And I don't see JK using this sort of idea twice.

Yeah, I agree.

I can see Nagini being a horcrux, one reason is because she's always with Voldemort, and it's as if they're protecting each other. But I don't know, I still get this far off feeling that there is something that we should know about Trevor's running off all the time...

Me, too. I have no idea what he's looking for, but I want to believe it means something.

*nods head* And I'm still wondering what trick JK's going to pull with both Neville and Trevor, they're bound to be important in the end.
