JK does not understand the scope of what she created... She cloistered herself during the series and did few interviews. James' and Lily's parents could not have died of natural causes - they are way too young. Shame on JK for thinking we wouldn't notice and not care... Penelope's parents were excited by what they saw at the platform.. they are around somewhere - JK just forgot to remember them.

Exactly, jelf.
JKR doesn't realize she's created- no, she hasn't even created, she has opened a portal to- a whole other world. She thinks her fans are either too adoring to press her on the issue, or only concerned with the Trio and very major characters.
Saying that all four of Harry's grandparents died of natural causes is really just ridiculous.
(Famine? Any famines in the United Kingdom in the Muggle World in the late 1970's? Not that I recall.)

i think JKR did it on purpose so that she would have a reason to write another series, she can't possibly be happy with the change from potter all the time to nothing, she'll keep writing, i'd bet my paycheck on.

Supposedly she's been spotted working on a detective story...I don't think we can expect another HP book from her any time soon, at least. I'd love one (or a rewrite) but it doesn't seem very realistic...:/

Her explanation for James' parents is that they had him very late in their lives, and that's why they died of natural causes before Harry became the Boy-Who-Lived.
(She really isn't helping rumors that Harry's grandparents were contemporaries to Dumbledore/McGonogall with comments like this.)

Still doesn't explain Lily's, however.

You are right. She can do whatever she wants, but we can express our displeasure too.

We are the paying customer. We can speculate. JKR says a lot apart from the books. We can try to put two and two together.

It's a hobby for some people. Instead of making jewelry, they are trying to put the pieces together . . .
