Dumbledore had seen the doubts about killing him in Snapes mind and had to ask him again to follow through with their plan, whatever that might be.
The only thing that doesn't support this theory is that Snape was looking at Dumbledore with hatred.
[/b]

Are you sure he was looking at Dumbledore with hatred or was he looking at Harry with hatred because he knew that for the plan to go right (harry killing voldemort) he had to kill dumbledore and lose a friend and pretty much the closest thing to family he really had? (just playing devil's advocate)

I hope (for my sake at least) that you are both right, but I'm having a hard time forgetting the look of hatred and revulsion that Snape had looking at Dumbledore right before he killed him.

Yeah I'd have to agree with you...... but still, don't we all know that Snape is good at occlumency and can mask his face..... so he may be faking. But! I can't get over how Dumbledore was begging him to spare him. I mean, Dumbledores not the kind of person who begs, is he! he'd have to be pretty scared.

On the bottom page 590 to the top of page 591, in The Goblet of Fire, Dumbledore says about Snape, " . . . . . he rejoined our side before Lord Voldemort's downfall and turned spy for us, at great personal risk. . . . . " Then on page 549 of The Half-Blood Prince, after explaining to Harry how Snape ran to Voldemort with the prophecy without realizing what he was doing and without knowing what Voldemort would do with it, "you have no idea the remorse Professor Snape felt when he realized how Lord Voldemort had interpreted the prophecy, Harry, I believe it to be the greatest regret of his life and the reason he returned ----" Which is it?!?!? Did he return BEFORE the downfall or after Voldy killed Lily and James and disappeared? WHEN did he "return?" And, if everyone believes he turned on Dumbledore and Dumbledore was wrong, how will he be able to help Harry? No one will trust him. Could Dumbledore possibly have confided in McGonagall? Could Dumbledore have left his vast collection of memories in his pensieve for Harry to use and explore?????

I imagine that Snape's return must have been after, but I don't understand why it matters.

He will be able to help Harry, with or without Harry's trust.
He can clear the way and remove obsticles, like Mad-Eye did in the maze.

I believe that Dumbledore told Snape to kill him so that Harry would have more reasons to go after Voldemort for himself instead of just because the prophecy says that he has too. Dumbledore and Harry were discussing that earlier in book six that Harry doesn't need to want to kill Voldemort just because the prophecy says that he must, that he must kill Voldemort because he wants to.

When Dumbledore begs Severus "Severus...please..." I think that he is saying to follow his orders and to kill him. I think when he looks at Dumbledore with hatred, it is probably because the closest person to him orders him to kill him and he hates that decision that Dumbledore made. He's hating Dumbledore at that moment because of what he's making him do.
