Here's a thought: We are all just assuming that the potion Dumbledore drank was the potion that was there when R.A.B. took the locket. Why? In the book it was never stated that the basin re-filled, so it may still be empty now. And we knoww that somebody was there before, and that they had to get to the bottom of the basin. Are we just supposed to think that this person happened to have the exact same potion in his pocket and replaced the locket with the fake one and then added in the potion? Who knows what kind of potion was in the basin originally? R.A.B. could have replaced the original potion with the green potion, there is no reason, as far as I can see, why the original potion could not have been completely different. So one person may have been able to get past the original potion. Also, If there was more than person going into the cave the first time, one of them must have either been an underage wizard, a squib, or a muggle. Dumbledore said the boat would take one full-fedged wizard across the water. So if there were many people, there would be only one wizard.

This may possibly be a double-post, i think i may have screwed something up |

Hmmmm, nice point, Voice of Reason. I have been thinking on this since finishing the book, but had forgotten that Dumbledore said that two full wizards would probably not make it on the boat. So...if we are thinking of two people, one of them would need to be underage, a muggle or a squib. Hmmmm. I've been trying to be good all day at work, and now you've got me thinking again. I like the idea of it being Regulus for the reasons that have been mentioned. I've also been thinking about Amelia Bones. But I have no reasons or proof, just wishful thinking maybe?

Ok, does anyone have clues as to who this person is? This person stole the 3rd Horcrux in book 6. I have gone through a list of people, and the incials don't match anyone. Also, in The Order of the Phoneix, wasn't there a necklace, locket type thing found in Head Quarters, when they were cleaning up the place. It was mentioned that it was impossible to open, that it might have had a sticking charm on it simular to the one on the back of Sirius' Mother's Portrait.

i have liked the theory that it is three different ppl for a while now not only does regulus seem to obvious he just seems an unwise choice idk but he couldnt have done it alone if dumby who was one of the strongest wizards ever couldnt do it alone then surely no one else could and i like the idea that it is a d ifferent potion too that would make sence but maybe it was a self refilling potion who knows wat spells voldy cast to keep the locket safe RAB may not have had to worry about refilling the potion if voldy cast a spell to keep it self refilling just a thought
