I'll speak on behalf of those who hate the ending. Yes I do hate the ending because it was unrealistic (Albus Severus??? Please!), had no-where near enough information, and didn't show no love for most of those who died (Lupin, Sirius, Fred etc etc etc.) I could go on...
I did want Harry to have his happy endin but I wanted a decent, realistic bit of writing to finish my favourite series of all time. Not a load of mush that was probably written at the same time as PS/SS and did not fit in with J.K's style of work that has developed over the years. I mean we got over the deaths of major characters. We coulda handled more than that!

to name a child in memory of someone significant - is NOT 'unrealistic'. it is NOT mush.

there is no greater honour aside from being asked to be a godparent - as far as children are concerned.

I thought the epilogue was short - too many names in too short a chapter. but then I thought - what if she deliberately wanted it to be that way?

to all those who don't like how she did it - why aren't you asking yourselves.. what if what we got was EXACTLY as it was meant to be? WHY would she have written it that way? Isn't that what analysis of an author's work is supposed to be about? It just smacks of arrogance to expect that someone else's imaginings somehow has to fit MY ideals and expectations 100%.

Artists can never please everyone. artists shouldn't have to please everyone. Artists should spark debate and thought and hopefully inspire others. I think she has done this.

So , um ... everyone has different idea , but , JK is the author ! Harry Potter will be whatever she wants him to be ! She must have something that she wanted to express to us since she wrote that epilogue .

How would write the ending if you were JK , Becca ? All of us can tell that you're really really unsatisfied .

Actually, I think it leaves a lot of room for imagination, which is why I thought everyone who "hates" it is crazy.

Well, I doubt anyone on this site could really "hate" ANY HP book, but it was really disappointing. I don't think that because it pleases hopeless romantics it's justified, sorry. The literary quality just took a dive. The epilogue lacked substance- it gave me the impression of overly-bright cardboard cutouts. The plot was just a mess- new plots that didn't really make sense were added, while the existing ones simply ignored, or, at best, weakly resolved. The general tone of DH contradicted itself- either be realistic, or be a fairytale. Poorly attempting to pander to both those sides comes across as false and not very well though out.

ok when u see the epilogue u have to disassociate from the main story that it is just if u want to believe which i do but for 12 pages or whatever it is is no reason to dislike the whole book

Heyyyyyyyyy!!!! Teddy's back!!!!! She puts it better than me but I try!!!
I don't hate the whole book but I do hate a lot of it.
It is irrelevant how I would have finished the book and I do not expect J.K to write as I want her to write (come on, you think I wanted Sirius or DD to die). However, why write a series which develops, grows, changes and becomes more intricate and detailed only to finish it with something which is a complete cop out! Oh, yeah lets pull out the polyjuice potion and cloak and we're sorted. And don't worry about all thoses people who died because Harry and Ginny are all gravy baby!!!!
And as for Albus, Severus, COME ON!!!!! Do you really believe that Harry named his kid after some bloke who he couldn't stand for years, who hated his Dad, for what??? Because he loved his Mum!!! He wasn't loyal to Harry, James, Sirius, DD. Purely to Lily and that, imo isn't enough to justify ALBUS SEVERUS!!!!!
