From personal experience I know that death doesn't last all that long. Your heart can stop, you're dead, then it starts again, you're alive. Also, What about different incarnations? Was He-who-must-not-be-named technically alive in the back of Squirrel's head? Maybe the prophecy has already been fulfilled.

Okay, I suppose it isn't a bad theory that both H and V will die at the end of book seven...Still, I find it pretty hard to believe. After all, it's in the prophecy that one has to die for the other to survive (I know that doesn't exactly say that one of them has to live, but I honestly can't see her killing off both of them, that seems like a bit of a cop out to me). I also have real difficulty believing that she'd let Voldemort win - I mean, what kind of storyteller ever lets the homocidal lunatic win at the end of the story - because, let's face it, if she did, we've essentially got mass genocide and the end of the world to look forward to at the end of the seventh book. That said, I don't exactly think that's JK's going to give us a triumphant Harry returning from some horrible confrontation with blood down his robes and a sheepish, triumphant grin on his face, safe in the knowledge that now that Voldemort is dead, all is right with the world (after all, even if he does kill Voldemort, there's still all those Death Eaters to contend with and like Dumbldore said, some are almost as terrible as Voldemort himself). That's too much of a happy ending and again, it's a cop out - and I really hope we aren't going to end this whole saga with a bloody cop out happy ending, that would be most upsetting. I've actually got a few theories about the ending - as well as a number of other things - but the happiest eventuality involves Harry eventually filling the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher - he's kind of the perfect candidate and, in OotP we know that's he's enjoying teaching the DA classes. The unhappiest - and this touches on one of my fave subjects, the Prophecy, but I've posted theories on that elsewhere, so won't explain them here - involves Harry, actually commiting murder, killing Voldemort but, because of the mental anguish, going completely insane and ending up with Gilderoy Lockhart and Neville's parents on the Closed Ward in St. Mugo's. That would be a pretty dark ending and definitely not a cop out. What you think about that?

slopeydope: voldeort wouldn't win if they both die because winning for voldemort is killing harry and staying alive. if he dies voldemort would be defeated.

even though i dont think it will happen it is possible that harry goes insane

though i doutb very much

Shelby 14: It isn't about who winning and losing, it's about fulfilling a prophecy. I don't want to get bogged down into arguing about the prohecy, but ultimately, it does state, pretty clearly, that neither can live while the other survives. However, that doesn't mean (at least, I don't think it does) that neither will live. Ultimately, one of them has to die so that the other can go on with their life, but while both exist, there's always going to be conflict...Actually, s@*!, I think I've just argued myself into a corner. I suppose, looking at it from the point of view of resolving the conflict instead of just fulfilling the prophecy, both of them dying is pretty feasible. Ah! I'm so confused. I'm gonna go away for a cup of tea and a lie down.

Actually I have noticed this, And I thought I was going to far when I thought of this, but, I think eye color has something to with how powerful you are, or how much power is possible rather, because if you think of it Voldermort color that is always showing is green,9remember the mark) and he is one of the most powerful in the world, but my theory might totally be off base, I don't know what color Dumbledore eyes are do you know? Well no matter that I don't think Dumbledore is as powerful as Voldermort, but rather geniuses like Hermione. Which is why Dumbledore has not done away with Voldermort by now, he knows that. I might be a bit off base thou what do you think
[/b]
you so have not been reading the books properly.it says right at the beggining that dumbledore has 'piercing blue eyes'.

Potterdog: We may both be right. Say Salazar Slytherin had green eyes. Lily Potter had green eyes and so does Harry. Lily Potter may have been the last direct decendant of Slytherin until Harry was born. So whatever powers Harry got from Voldemort were quadrupled because Slytherin blood runs in his veins. I'll have to see what eye color is mentioned for Tom Riddle if any. Did you find an eye color for Voldemort?
[/b]
Who said Slytherin had green eyes?I think Riddle had blue or grey eyes and Voldy has red eyes.It mentions it at least twice.
By the way Lily Potter was muggle born so she cant have been a decendent of Slytherin.

Isn't it interesting that before HBP this is kinda what we all thought; that the whole prophecy thing was IT and that it was SO cruel of Jo (AKA Squidward (she says that's the name she'll use if ever she did post- I will curse anyone who uses this name that is not, in fact, our Jo!-She and I are, of course, joking) to throw Harry into the gladiatorial pit with Voldy JUST because of some prophecy. And there it was in HBP!! The answers to our worst fears. The prophecy does not pre-destine anyone to any action; it is merely the means to the end it does not dictate the end in itself. Beautiful Squidward!! My hat's off to you yet again!
