Am I not looking at the pictures properly, or is Harry's scar gone? If it is gone, was it not drawn in on purpose?

I think I see the scar.
It's more clear in the UK version,
but there's something there in the US version, too.
scroll down to where it says "click to expand."

Yes, the scar is in the US version, but you only see the side of it because his hair is in the way. As for the people surronding it, I would think its only the Death Eater's and Order of the Phenoix. They just sit back and watch because the Order knows the only Harry can finish off Voldermort, and the Death Eaters know that Voldermort wants to finish off Potter him self. And for whats around his neck, maybe the fake locket? Remember how he held on to it at the end of the last book.

Dont know what to say to much about the UK.

And the adults version is my favorite cover by far. The locket meaning that he gets it. Just some thoughts.

Yeah, it's covered up by his hair, so you really can't tell.

Thanks for pointing out the people in the background. I didn't notice it at first. That is intriguing. Maybe Deatheaters? Or possibly just a distraction to make us think that others are there?
I imagine the curtains are just decorative elements for the inside sleeves of the books.
What are they both reaching towards?
Both Harry and Voldemort are lacking wands. I believe somewhere wandless magic is mentioned. Could this be it? It is difficult to tell in 2-D, but it doesn't look as if Voldemort is pointing his hands towards Harry. And certainly Harry's focus is somewhere else.
The thing around Harry's neck looks like a pouch/bag of some sort. What would be in it if that is the case I do not know.
I'm wondering about the wood too. One looks like a beam (like from a building of some sort), one looks like a large log, and there is also a rock.

Children's cover:
That must be Gryffindor's sword the house elf is holding. It has rubies in it.
What's with all the treasure?
-It must be some of the horcruxes. There is a helmet with a Griffin and rubies on it. There is a piece of torso armor with what looks like a beaked snake on it.
The "ring" they are coming out of is likely the top of an archway.
What's the orb with the snake in it about? Obviously connected to Slytherin, but why in an orb?
The stag looks like it is smiling.

It is interesting to note that both the covers emphasize the colors red and gold. The colors of Gryffindor. Then again, the adult cover has Slytherin's locket.

Here's an interesting discussion.

Also, on the UK children's cover ("click to expand" version)
Look at the wall just outside the castle door.
It looks like a yellow sketch of some kind in the stone.
Hagrid with his umbrella? I have no idea.

If you look at the cover with the Scholastic Magnicifer there are some things I noticed. First here is the link so you can see it too.

http://www.scholastic.com/harrypotter/book...llows/index.htm

First off, we can see all four hands, neither one is holding a wand. Also, look in the background, it looks to me that those back shadows are shadows of people's heads (Maybe the Death Eaters??) Tell me what you think....

But I know one thing I found out about the cover and here it is

Quote:
Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded. [/b]
Makes me want to get a time turner not to go back into time but to fast forward time to READ THE BOOK ALREADY..

I am getting anxious. And also feeling a bit sad myself knowing this is it. The last book. And we know someone is going to die. Now I cried when Sirus disappeared and the scene with Dumbledore. I know I will cry at the end or even during this book. (AND Once again my husband will laugh at me for crying over a book. LOL.)

Thanks for the new link. My old one doesn't work any more.

It's hard to find, and they keep changing.

Those are definately people in the background.
I think they're ghosts or shadows or whatever of dead people, who's ability to help is limited.

Hey you I haven't been on here for a while. How are you? Are you getting excited yet like me waiting for the movie and book. I have to say though I read something about the movie that I didn't like, how they (of course we knew they would do this) take things out and ut things in that did not even happen. They have Cho being the Sneak who rats out DA. She was under the effects of Vertiserum. They also do not hvae the word SNEAK written or engraved on her head. I will find what I read and post it up in a separate forum.

An update on my thoughts here. I looked at the cover again and reconsidered something. All of that must be Gryffindor's. There is a helmet like I said, but there is also a shield with rubies in it. Every stone there is a ruby. It would only make sense that with a sword, helmet, and shield that all obviously belonged to Gryffindor, that the other piece of the armor is his too. Perhaps the "snake-like thing" is an old variation on a Griffin.
So, the question we have now is where are they? Could they be at a vault at Gringotts (sp?) that either belonged to Gryffindor or is now storing his things? Somewhere else? Could one of these things be a horcrux and that is why they are there?
