JKR has finally visited her website.

http://www.jkrowling.com/en/thankyou.cfm

On her desk top:

A newspaper article from Septemer 13 says, "Now that I'm back from New York, the only real news is that I'm continuing to work hard on my book..."

She made a diary entry on September 13, but made no comment about that reading last month.

Nothing new in "Rumors."

The silence is deafening. And the message couldn't be more clear.

Actually, the diary does mention the reading....
In fact, 2 of the 3 paragraphs are about that reading...
Still doesn't say anything about DD, though...

You're right.
Still, she doesn't acknowledge the main event.

And another thing --

I just found that the brush on her desk leads to "Extra Stuff."
Under "Miscellaneous" is a NAQ (never asked question):
"Why did Dumbledore have James' invisibility cloak at the time of his death?"

Ok, there's a question. So what's the answer?

Isn't her site just full of amazing things? LoL. Yesterday I went and really explored it and tried to find everything there is to find. I got 3 of those "special ..thingies," yay. There's still a puzzle that I can't figure out, though...anyway...
I'd actually heard about her NAQ...and that sure is a good one.
I always just assumed that Dumbledore picked it up at Godric's Hollow while 'investigating the scene' or something...Or maybe he borrowed it from James beforehand?
Or maybe he was at Godric's Hollow hiding when Voldemort killed James and Lily? Everyone is always saying that there was a third party there that night...I guess that still doesn't explain why he had the cloak...

Aren't we told in book one that James left the cloak in Dumbledore's possession before he died? We aren't told exactly why he did that, but we are sort of told the how. We know that James and Lily knew that Voldemort was after them so they made plans, such as the Fidelius charm etc. Not sure why they would have got the cloak out of the way. Maybe it was so that if Wormtail did give away the secret (which he did) no one could sneak in and not be seen because they were hidden by the invisibility cloak. Then again, why would James need the cloak in the house he was in anyway? It was unplottable.

Aberforth --

Your silence is not as deafening or as meaningful
as JKR's, but it still has me wondering.
Have you no comment?

I don't really know what to say. I can't say I'm surprised that she didn't say anything about Dumbledore. It's a mystery that is enticing a lot of fans and keeping them interested. Of course she's not going to reveal anything either way. However, the question about the invisibility cloak is interesting. It's something I haven't thought about in a while. I'll have to keep thinking. What were Dumbledore's exact words on the note when Harry got the cloak? That may help us. Anyone have any other thoughts on it?

The movie puts it as: "Your father left this in my possession before he died. It's time it was returned to you. Use it well." I don't know how the book puts it 'cause my Mum still has book one and we live about 1000 kilometres away from each other. Not exactly a Sunday drive away!

There´s a poll on Mugglenet about this question. According to them, J.K. said the question is "crucial".
