I read something somewhere that mentioned to look at who is NOT at Dumbledore's funeral (besides the obvious characters). Unfortunately I can't remember where I read it or who wrote it. I just finished rereading the sixth book, and for the life of me I can't figure it out. I know that JK Rowling didn't mention everyone who is there, but she took special care to list a lot of people who were. I also realize that there are several people who wouldn't be there. I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out who JKR didn't mention that should have been there. Thanks!

It might be a good start if we could list here all who was there. Then we could all look and see if there was anyone we noticed missing. Anyone up for the challenge?

OK; Kingsley Shacklebolt, Mad-Eye Moody, Tonks, Lupin, Mr and Mrs. Weasley, bill, Fleur, Fred, George; Madame Maxime, Tom - the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, Arabella Figg, member of the Wierd Sisters, Ernie Prang (knight bus) Madam Malkin, Rita Skeeter, Fudge, Scrimgeour, Umbridge, the Mer-people, and the Centaurs came to pay their respects. Percy isn't mentioned... so most likely he's not there, neither is Ludo Bagman (of course the Goblins might still be after him).

Percy was there. Ron said to Hermione at the end 'Let me go back and hit Percy, it'll make me feel better!'
Charlie wasn't mentioned. I would have thought he'd come back from Romania or wherever he is to pay his respects.
Who else?

Was it mentioned if Aberforth was there? I don't think he was, but I could be wrong. If I'm right, I find it very curious that Albus's own brother (according to HP Lexicon) didn't turn up to pay his respects. Very curious, indeed.

I don't recall ever reading about Aberforth in any of the books. But that could just be thanks to my habit of forgetting things.

I read somewhere (possibly on J.K.'s site) that the barman from the Hog's Head is Aberforth. I think it was admitted by J.K. herself.

You're absolutely right. He could have been at the funeral. He probably would not have been mentioned if he had.

Ok, also there were the witch who pushed the trolley on the Hogwarts Express; the castle ghosts; the barman of the Hog's Head, who I also believe is Aberforth; Firenze (I know the centuars have already been mentioned, but Firenze was mentioned by himself); Hagrid; Grawp; McGonagall; "the staff;" the "little tufty-haired man in plain black robes" who spoke; the ministry delegation; Harry; Ron; Hermione; Ginny; Luna; and Neville. Also mentioned in the great hall area right before the funeral were Crabbe, Goyle, Slughorn, Sprout, Madame Pince, and Filch.

As far as Bagman being missing, that has been noted in the books also, so I don't believe that his absence would be a clue.

Charlie Weasley was absent...that's interesting.
