Wow... Um.. I think Dumbledore had his reasons for trusting Snape. He isn't really dead you know. Thats what I think.

Maybe Snape told Dumbledore about how he made a promise to Narcissa to protect Draco and what not. Maybe Dumbledore and Snape made up some kind of plan. *shrug*

Maybe this is a bit too aside to be in the plot, but I'll add in a wish-it-would-be-in-the-plot thought. I'd like to see a cure for Werewolfness developed. Remember in book 2 Mr. Smiley, AKA Lockhart had stolen a story from and erased the memory of someone who had found a cure. Wouldn't it be great if the guy who did it could be tracked down and the memory charm broken through (Voldemort proved that can be done, i.e. Bertha Jorkins) so they could get a cure. Would make Lupin and Bill's days i think

I don't have the book with me so I can't check this, but I didn't think that Lockhart wrote a book about the time he stopped the Werewolf, rather he was just telling the story to his class. So I had assumed that hewas just making it up on the spot.
You're right though, it would be nice to see a cure for werewolf-itis (that is a technical term lol)

Book 2, at the start of the chapter "The Rogue Bludger" Lockhart tells the kids about the Homorphous Charm that's meant to cure werewolves. I pressume the guy he got the story from really did find a cure.

Pictures are a dime a dozen. A portrait, by itself, means nothing.

Lockhart's own charm left him in St. Mungo's, perhaps permanently.
And sure, Voldemort proved that it could be done, but Bertha wasn't worth anything when they were finished with her. And if anything, I think Barty Sr.'s memory charm on Bertha was probably more gentle than Lockhart's.

I don't remember, but that sounds likely.

I think that Snape was trustworthy. He may not have been at some point-as he WAS a Death Eater...but when Voldermort refused to spare Lily Potter...his side of the battle changed completely.

I think when Book 7 finished...he WAS indeed trustworthy.

And i think Dumbledore trusted him because he knew that Snape would no longer do the bidding of Voldermort because he refused to spare Lily Potter
