What is World of Warcraft?

Do you really think this theory is it?
You know.....it....

I'm of the opinion that whatever theories anyone comes up with (including me), will be wrong because if we've figured it out, it's too obvious for JK to use. Maybe that's just me hoping JK surprises us all, though.

Now I'm really curious about this special little package. Do you mean read it as in read one of your posts that says what it is, or read it as in work it out for myself?

Can't you just tell me what it is? If it's the former, it's probably a ploy to make me read one of your threads, because you always seem to want me to...

Is it the time turner or something?

It is a massively multiplayer, on-line, role playing game.
Truckloads of people are playing on line at the same time.
You have a character and you run around and do stuff.

Ok, start with the idea of "Dungeons and Dragons." (We loved D&D when I was in college.) Then throw away the dice, pencils and paper and put it on the computer. Then throw away the hand-drawn maps on graph paper and get a computer-generated, color, animated, 3-D, interactive view of the world. Then boot out the Dungeon Master and let the computer handle it, so there's no more cheating (awe, shucks). Then let the professionals write all the stories. To those obsessed enough to stay up all night and create their own campaigns, this does limit the volume of new adventures, but hey -- you make your choices. Then open it up so that you can play with any stranger, anywhere in the world, who wants to join your guild. Or so that you can beat up any stranger for the crime of joining the "Alliance" rather than the "Hoard." Then you fork over -- I think it's about $70 for six months, with no comp time for when their system crashes.

It's easier than old-fashioned D&D. It's still for geeks, but you don't have to be TOOO obsessed to play.

Adults are getting into the act, too. Some are even schmoozing customers on line. I've heard people call it "the new golf."

Yup.

Na.
She had it all planned out before the first book was published.
Working out the details is a job, but I don't think she'll change the story.

Or did you mean that no one can fathom the mind of JKR, or predict what she will do?
Circular reasoning. Like Groucho Marx, who "won't join a club that would have me as a member." No, scratch that. Like a phoenix who is never born and will never die.

I just meant that if we've thought of it, it's not the answer because she's too good for us to predict.

I have no idea what Dungeons and Dragons is either.

Personally I dislike this idea because it is too scientifically impossible (I know I'm talking about a book that centres around magic but at least JKR hasn't done anything that really upsets science, other than creating matter out of nothin) However this is ridiculous because of the laws of cause and effect.
Pretty simply cause has to become before effect. However if cause and effect happen simultaneously (i.e. Dumbledore appearing to his previous self is the effect but it is also the cause because he wouldn't come back to this point later in time if it weren't for the fact that his future self had been back to that time)
Sorry if this sounds complicated but when you talk about time travel everything is. Anyways that's just my opinion.

Yep, that's my old buddy, Groucho. "I wouldn't join a club that would have me as a member."

!?!? Kids today. What is this world coming to?
Coolness is relative to the point from which you view the action. When you're inside the game, focusing on your situation and considering your options, it is majorly cool. When you're a Mom, just making hamburgers for a bunch of obnoxious kids, it sounds like this:

You lost me.
Are you saying that you don't like the idea of time travel in any form,
or that I have done something that JKR has not?

Well, if he doesn't like time travel then he didn't like PoA and he probably didn't like any of the amgic since it didn't go along with science. lol

I don't think that JK would write anything over again, do you?

She isn't the person that would do anything that is expected in the next book, I think that she will do things that are totally new and unexpected. lol!

So no one can say really honestly say that something is impossible unless there are concrete facts against the theory.

My daughter is 12 and my son is 15.
Why?

He would recommend "The Hitchhiker's Guide," if that's where you're going.

(He would also advocate World of War Craft, sleeping all day,
junk food, evading chores and being a pain in the butt.)

Just curious really. Your son sounds just like the majority of the lads at my school. And i seem to remember some guy in my class being obsessed with World of Warcraft. So i suppose he thinks Harry Potter is a joke?

Not at all. He just finishes the new one within 24 hours and moves on to his other obsessions.

Really!
My sister and I race to see who can read the new first.
Of course we have our own set and reread the new one after we raced but still it's fun all the same. lol

We just get one book.
I put in it four post-its for bookmarks, and mark them for brother, sister, "Mom" and "Dad."
I get the book while the kids are sleeping, and Dad just waits a week or so.
