Harry has never hidden behind Dumbledore.

He doesn't even take a lot of his advice, though he will for the horcruxes and the really important stuff. But then again, Dumbledore advised Harry to practise Occlumency hard and Harry never even tried. Dumbledore also asked Harry to get Slughorns memory as quickly as possible and Harry didn't do much.

Also Harry does things by himself, without Dumbledore and without his advice, like going into the Chamber of Secrets and going to stop Quirrel getting the Stone.

Yes, Harry realised in bk 6 that he had to stop letting people stand between him and Voldemort, and maybe it was Dumbledores death that made him realise that.

But that's not a good enough reason for Dumbledore to die, or to pretend to die. People are arguing that if Voldemort and his crew think Dumbledore's dead, Dumbledore will be much more dangerous to Voldemort. But that just contradicts the theory that Dumbledore faked his own death so Harry could defeat Voldemort on his own.

As for giving Harry the anger he needs to kill Voldemort from Snape killing Dumbledore, I don't think Harry needs to another reason to kill Voldemort.

So, for what reason would Dumbledore want to fake his own death? Please tell me, becasue so far no-one has been able to answer this question satisfactorially.

What if Snape is evil, and he made the unbreakable vow and stepped in to kill Dumbledore when Malfoy was faltering. But Dumbledore thought he was good and made Snape kill him. So, either way, Snape could kill Dumbledore. Win-win situation for Snape.

Not very likely. I'm going to start a new thread exploring the unbreakable vow and Snape more thoroughly.
It'll be in Divination for bk 7 and I'll call it...Snape's Vow.

O.K. I have read plenty of theories but no one wants to examine the facts they are 1 Snape performed the killing curse 2 The curse hit Dumbeldore 3 Dumbeldore died. Now until some one can show me where I missed something then you have to believe that dumbeldore is dead. Just a note about Dumby faking his death to motivate Harry. Cmon if the murder of your parents and Uncle let alone numerous atempts upon your own life are not enough to motivate you then forget it you're never going to be ready.

Try the "Astronomy Tower" thread in this section (div class for book IV).
And no, I dont think Harry needs a motivator, and no,
I don't think harry is helpless just because Dumbledore is around.
I've been watching that kid for six years.
