Dumbledore believes that the shards in the diary and the ring have been destroyed. From the dramatic scene the diary made, I think it must be true. Dumbledore also believes that the shard in Voldemort is still around. Unless we dig up more information, that seems the best theory. |

Are you agreeing or disagreeing on the number of possible horcruxes? |

| Yeah, I think I'll stick with thinking of the trophy or the medal as being a horcrux. Though I'm open to something in the third book being "it." Exactly what would be a mystery though. Maybe Fortescue or Ollivander have something to do with it. |

| But when the diary was destroyed, that piece of soul was destroyed. and when the ring was ruined, so was the piece of soul it contained. So, when Voldemort's body was destroyed, how is that that piece of soul wasn't destroyed, as well? |

| I don't get it either. Maybe... Normally, when a person dies, regardless of the cause of death, the soul is released and goes... wherever souls go. Some choose to hang around, like Nearly Headless Nick. Most go on. When Voldemort’s first body was destroyed, that shard was earth-bound by the other shards in their horcruxes. It couldn’t go… wherever souls go. But sometimes something else happens. Like with a dementor's kiss, the soul is destroyed. The diary and ring were destroyed in a way that destroyed those shards, rather than just releasing them. If Voldemort is simply killed and the last shard is released rather than destroyed, could he still come back and cause trouble as a ghost? I have no idea. I'm just making it up. Is it working? |

| Personally I don't think that the award could have been a horcrux because Voldemort would never have had access to it at the time of a murder in order to make a horcrux. The only murder he committed at school was killing Myrtle and I believe that he used that murder to make the diary horcrux. |
