Harfang Longbottom
On Rowling's Black Family Tree, a Harfang Longbottom married Callidora Black, daughter of Arturus Black. No dates for Harfang, but Callidora was born in 1915 and appears to still be alive (no death date) (BFT).
Name origen: In French, an 'Harfang des neiges' is a snowy owl.
Maybe far fetched but it made me think. [/b]

Like i say everywhere, nothing is in any of the books for nothing. Everything in those books has a reason to be there. And i wouldn't be suprised if this turns out to be true. [/b]
I agree that everything will have a purpose.
But I'm not following the rest.
You wouldn't be surprised if what is true?

That's pretty interesting...but I can't help thinking that it's one of those other farfetched ideas. You know, like Remus having a twin or Peter Pettigrew's silver hand killing Remus as a werewolf... Why would a witch or wizard subject themselves to being sold as a pet? The only exception being Scabbers, of course. It's a good idea, but I suspect J.K. would just shoot it down. Bravo on your excellent deep-thinking!

Hey -- I liked that one. It wasn't so farfetched. Even Rowling said it was a good idea, it's just not in her story.

But I still don't get this new one.
So far, all we know is that Harfang Longbottom existed.
Why did you pick him? I'm missing the connection.
Why would a 90-year-old man want to pretend to be an owl?
And what is the evidence?

Very interesting. A definite possibility but your taking it too far. . It is also quite interesting that the Blacks and Longbottoms are related by marriage. I never noticed that. Or at least, I didn't remember it.

Hedwig or Crookshanks are not animaguses because JK Rowling has confirmed it in her official website.
