Time

Maybe the time turner comes into play.......@ the end of POA it didn't say what happened to the T.T.maybe Hermione kept it? don't know if it's anything though ....just wondering?

At the end of the third book, Hermione said that she handed the time-turner in
and that she was dropping Muggle Studies and something else.

Still, I'm sure we'll see the time-turner again.

Okay in Half Blood Prince didn't they break all the time turners? If by any chance a few were not there this could happen but if they all were destroyed i dont know whether or not they could make more.

I doubt that ALL of the Time-Turners in the world were being stored in the Ministry.
It would be pointless and it's probably impossible.

It is possible that the ministry made them. And then there would only be those that the ministry had made. If they did store all of them here then they were all destroyed. Hermione said something about it being really hard to get one...(i think)... so unless someone else had one they are all gone.

The thing is, I think that the Ministry just had all the LEGAL Time Turners at that time, especially since yes, Hermione did say that they're hard to get. And I too doubt that those were ALL the time turners in the WORLD, but they might have, once again, been all the legal ones, especially since no one ever really knew what was in the Department of Mysteries. So maybe, those specific Time Turners were actually being experimented on at the moment? Does that make sense eve if it is far-fetched?

Are we sure that all of the Timeturners were in the ministry that night though? In "The Beetle at Bay" chapter 25 of book 5 we find Umbridge inspecting every lesson of Trelawny's and Hagrid's. How was she doing that plus teaching her own classes too? Could she have had a timeturner? If she did then after she had her day with the Centaur herd was it on her, or was it in her office? It's not explicit that she returned to her office after the centaur incident, we know she made it to the hospital wing... but nothing else. If it was still in her office would it have stayed there until the following year when, possibly Snape moved offices (sorry, I'm being slack and not looking that up) so Slughorn could have the potions one.

I am almost certain the time-turner will not play a role again. It was simply a plot device for making things happen in Prisoner of Azkaban. Simple as that. This is why Hermione conveniently gave it up at the end of PoA and why they were all destroyed in Order of the Pheonix.

It would have came in handy in the fourth book.

There won't be any more simply for the reason that time travel is way too powerful, especially in a wizards hands. Rowling confirms this when she says something to the effect of "Nasty things happen to wizards who fool with time."

Having it around creates all sorts of problematic story issues which is the reason she had them all destroyed and probably a good reason that it shouldn't have been used in the first place. It was just an easy, convenient plot device.
