Okay wait, I'm still really confused about the horcruxes. Haven't we killed three or two already? Yet Dumbledore is talking about finding six when there are seven even though we've killed some! And does the life Voldemort's using now count as a horcrux life? And now that I think about it, it would be impossible for the Gryffindor sword to have a horcrux because it was stored in the hat until Harry, a true Gryffindor, got it out, and only a TRUE Gryffindor could have gotten it and Voldy's in Slytherin. And how does Harry expect to get the horcruxes when look at what just two of them did Dumbledore, and he's a REALLY powerful, fully educated wizard! FURRY CUNUNDRUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

Here's the break down, as I read it: Volde has torn his soul into 7 pieces. Six of the pieces were made into horcruxes - the seventh piece still resides within Volde. The known horcruxes are: Riddle's diary - destroyed in book 2 Marvolo's ring - destroyed in book 6 The locket - strongly believed to be a horcrux, whereabouts unknown, and so we cannot say yet if Harry has to destroy it or if it's been done already. The rest of the horcruxes are still unnamed. Dumbledore thought that a "treasure" from Gryffindor or Ravenclaw would be likely. He also thought Nagini, the snake, was a possibility. Oh, and anyone still thinking that Harry himself might be a horcrux... he cannot be. If Harry has to destroy the six horcruxes before he has a even a shred of a chance of killing Volde, he'd have to kill himself first. While I'm sure Harry would kill himself in order to get Volde gone - he doesn't have a problem with self-sacrifice - Harry can't get Volde if he's dead. replies welcome

But didn't Dumbledore say that Voldemort had split himself into two BEFORE he killed Harry? (And no, I don't think Harry is a horcrux) So wouldn't the Voldemort that went to kill Harry have been one of the horcruxes that was killed? And didn't Dumbledore also say something about a possession of Hufflepuff's? frontpagenews: No, because he didn't really know about the horcruxes until the sixth book. He even said that he had hypothesized about them over the years, but now he was more sure, and that's why he went after the ring. Plus, Dumbledore doesn't know for certain if the sword is a horcrux.
