I've just been having a look at the MuggleNet site. They have a portion of 'The Black's Family Tree' hand writen by our Jo, up. It doesn't show much but it does have a line of decendence coming from Phineus Black to a Burke line AND Bulstrode line.
We've pondered Burke (and Borgins) being RAB on other threads but:
Did anyone else know that Millicent Bulstode was a Black relative?
Did anyone else think that the Bulstrode's might be in the running to be RAB?
CoS is meant to be particularly intimately tied to the last two books. Whatya think of the idea that Millie wasn't just a throw away character? The Bulstrodes have an intrigal place in the story??

just throwing it in the mix

An Aside:Also interesting about the family tree is that Phineus married Ursula Flint and the Potters, Longbottoma and Crouch's are also included. Strange hey, they're all cousins of some sort
Also interesting is that there are some black, cloud-like symbols drawn on the tree. Presumably these are those individuals who made wrong choices and have been blastered off the tree. If this is so, how come the Potters, Longbottoms and Crouch are clearly visible??

ps. sorry administrators. I would have put this under the 'Black's Family Tree' thread that I know you've started but I couldn't find it when I came back. Please move this post if you can

I can't find it any more either. I know it WAS here 'cause it was the thing that inspired me to go hunting on MuggleNet. Anyway, have you had a look at the Jo-original on MuggleNet?? What do you think??

Nope. Didn't find that, either.
MuggleNet has a lot of stuff.
Is it someplace easy?

"Millicent" doesn't begin with an "R." Or even an "A." And any Bulstrode relative that we haven't met is out of the running. I hear tell that JKR is not going to introduce any more major characters, implying that everything we need to know is already here.

You say the "Chamber of Secrets is meant to be particularly intimately tied to the last two books."
What was actually said, and in what context?

I'm still expecting the seventh book to run along the lines of Ron's chess game.
And the Mirror of Erised.
And the Ginny-hostage thing.
And the long, casual chat with Voldemort.
And the chamber itself -- I always expected something more from that place.

Thanks for the MuggleNet link. Good effort.
Unfortunately, it shows only the top corner of the page peaking out of an envelope.
Where are the Potters, Longbottoms and Crouch clearly visible?

psyduck: We were just looking for other 'B' candidates so I thoguht I'd throw the Bulstrodes into the mix. No real intent.

Jo says in her interview for Childrens' Book Week (links on MuggleNet and Leakey Culdron and transcript on her own site) that The last two are 'in many ways' an extension of the CoS. (Jo's "clues" are SO annoying though)

The point about the Crouches', Longbottoms' and Potters' branches was that while others had obviously been blasted from the tree by the black cloud/blasted symbol, they hadn't. I was asking what you thought this might mean??

What do you think the other clues mean? Why is there that big 'MURDER' given so much prominence??? Whose?? What are those cartoon drawings on the side about??????

What does it mean that the Potters' branch is still there? Probably nothing.

What about the drawings & stuff? No idea. I still can't see anything but the top corner of the page peaking out of an envelope.

psychduck: what you see is what we all see in the Tree. It's all Jo will give us.
The Potters, Longbottoms and Crouches aren't blasted off the family tree but some are. Who are blasted off? Why??
Maybe just maybe, this is a clue from our Jo (and we know how helpful they are :P ) about some dark nasty secret about the Potters AND the Longbottoms?? Ok Ok so I'm stretching SO far I need a personal trainer for these theories but COME ON we could be on to... well.. something??

Nope. Nothing. She's not going to serve it on a silver platter.
There's no reason for them to blast the ancestors of offenders.
Sirius' mother would need to blast herself off the tree.
