That's what Dumbledore wants Harry to believe, because if Harry believes, Voldemort will believe. [/b] Oh, so true...

I heard from someone that they think snape and Dumbledore could have traded bodies or are using polyjuice potion or somthing that would make snape be dead and Dumbledore still alive. I dont know whether to agree or disagree. Is it even possble?
[/b]
Sounds like a stupid idea to me. Why would they do that? And everyone going on about him not being dead is doing my head in. I've already accepted that hes gone for good. Although I don't want him to be dead i just can't imagine Jo bringing him back somehow.

I've said this before, but you guys have gotten me started again.

HP-5, page 531, Snape said, "The Dark Lord... almost always knows when somebody is lying to him. Only those skilled at Occlumency are able to shut down those feelings and memories that contradict the lie, and so utter falsehoods in his presence without detection."

I've felt for a long time that Snape was faking it. The childish hostility between James and Snape when they were kids doesn't add up. He should have grown up and moved on by now.

I'm sure that Snape's carefully cultivated hatred of Harry is for a purpose.

Dumbledore tolerates it because it is a part of Snape's way of fooling Voldemort.

Snape is able to "shut down those feelings and memories that contradict the lie," but that is not enough. Eventually, Voldemort would notice a blank, stone wall where a person with emotions should be. Snape needs to fill that blank space with something credible. This is what he put in the Pensieve during Occlumency lessons. The one Harry saw was just a cover, which Snape intended Harry to see.

Dumbledore, too, is fooling Harry so that Voldemort will believe.
Dumbledore is taking advantage of the fact that Harry never mastered Occlumency.
It's for a good cause, and I'm sure that Harry will approve in the end.

Wait, are you saying that Snape actually WANTED Harry to see the what your calling "fake" memory? 'Cause if you are, I have to disagree. Though it does seem logical for an adult male to have grown up and moved past his hatred of someone(aka James) Snape doesn't seem the type to do that. And he was REALLY angry when Harry saw the memory, not only was it embarrassing, but its one of the biggest things that inflicts Snape's wrath, if that makes any sense whatsoever. I do think that there was another reason that Dumbledore trusted Snape though, but I also think that Snape's hatred for Harry was pure.

Sure it's real. The best lies are half-true.
But Snape is hamming it way-way-way up.
Voldemort doesn't have the depth to psychoanalyze Snape.
While intelligent enough in some ways, he is not big on people skills.
He will see this strong emotion and believe it.
And Snape can use it as a cover for whatever he is really up to.

That's true, he's definitely not a master on any emotion except for maybe hatred and greed.

But I see what your saying, and it would make sense, just as long as your not saying its ALL fake.

Nope. Ya gotta start with something.
A good actor doesn't just pretend.
He digs deep to find something he can really feel.

I still don't get why Snape was trying to save Harry in book 1, if that what he was doing at all. Unless it was just to try and gain Dumbledore's trust. Dumbledore said it was cause James saved Snape's life when they were young but Snape doesn't seem to agree. Sorry to be a pain but my head's so crammed up lately i can't think clearly. (exams, you see).
