I've got a new theory -- "RAB" is a character who has been mentioned, but has not been developed. Someone like Archie, the old wizard in the night gown at the quiddich world cup. We never heard his last name. Or Tom the bartender -- we don't know his last name, either.

I have absolutely no idea who RAB is, but many ideas come and go. Regulus is a pretty good bet, I think. Is Arturus Black dead? I don't know about Filch. Just doesn't seem to fit the role. Too fidgety. It might have been someone in Tom Riddles year at Hogwarts. Malfoy has Harry. Snape had James. Tom had ....? Harry's Grandfather?

i love the idea of tom riddle needing an enemy at school, thats wicked, and harry's grandad? doubt it would have been RAP because if he was male he wouldve retained the pooter name, i think????
