I'm inclined to agree with you there. Remember at the beginning of book 6 when Dumbledore and Harry left Privet Drive Dumbledore gave Harry permission to use any spell he needed to if they were attacked, but he thought that unlikely because Harry was with him. By the end of book 6 when Dumbledore and Harry go to the cave that line has changed. Dumbledore says that he is not worried about being attacked because he is with Harry. At least, I'm sure he says that somewhere - I can't actually find it just at the moment, but I'm sure it's there somewhere.

It doesn't make sense for Voldemort to fear Harry. It's not who Voldemort is, ya kno. He has to see Harry as an obsticle, I mean, do tyou think that Voldemort would actually fear a teenager who he sees himself as the better of the two? He probably believe's that all the problem's with killing Harry are because Voldemort needs to use Harry to become more powerful. Whatever he sees of Harry it isn't fear. Loathing maybe, but not fear.

On page 477 of the UK/ Aussie edition Dumbledore and Harry have just discovered the info re Voldemort's horcruxes. Dumbledore says, "Voldemort himself created his worst enemy, just as tyrants everywhere do! Have you any idea hoe much tyrants fear the people they oppress? All of them realise that, one da, amongst their many victims, there is sure to be one who rises against them and strikes back. Voldemort is no different!" Among the people oppressed is Harry. Voldemort knows that Harry will strike back. I think that gives us an inkling that despite his exterior, Voldemort deep down does fear Harry. BTW, I found the bit where Dumbledore says to Harry, "I am with you" as his safety thing. Page 540 UK/Aussie edition or the final line of the chapter "The Cave".
