| To the dark lord I know I will be dead long before you read this but I wamt you to know it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more. R.A.B. Well this is the note, does anybudy have a clue who is R.A.B? I think it might be Regulus Black ( there might be a middle name starting with A) , because Death Eaters ussually call Voldemort the dark lord, and bacause this person knew his doom was aproaching as any death eater who left voldemort would know. However during the brief conversation between Sirius and Harry, sirius says that Regulus was never a graet Death Eater and soon changed his mind, so he isn't described quite as someone clever enough to steal the locket. Anyway it's just an idea, anyone elgse has a different one? |

I have another, ahem unusual, idea for the identity of R.A.B. Excuse me while I lay out a bit of background. 1) We assume it is a Death Eater because of the use of "Dark Lord" 2) JK Rowling has said in an interview that there will be no more big characters introduced in the final book # 7. 3) Slytherin House is supposed to have turned out more dark wizards than any other. Basing my theory on these statistics, I think there's a good chance that R.A.B. is The Bloody Baron - the Slytherin resident ghost. 1) JK hasn't yet explained why this ghost is covered in silver blood stains. 2) The Bloody Baron is the only ghost given this description, and you would think that Nearly Headless Nick (hit multiple times with a blunt axe) would have a similarly messy description. 3) The sheer lack of information we have about The Bloody Baron -- "Baron" could be a surname, nickname, or peer title; we don't know when he lived, meaning he could have been alive in Voldemort's earlier years, or not; we don't know his full name; we don't know the circumstances of his death. All that being said, I agree that The Bloody Baron is a long shot, but he is another unexplored "B" in the R.A.B. quest. |

When I said the Bloody Baron, I hadn't even thought of him as being a ghost when the locket was put into the basin. Although that's another one to think on... What I meant was back when the Bloody Baron was still actually alive, maybe then he had the opportunity to dupe Volde, and that, also, has something to do with the reason he's covered in silver blood stains. Ok, 'nough said, carry on.... |

| I am pretty sure the initials R.A.B refer to Regulas Black->Sirius' brother. Jo states specifically that he dies. But then, now that Harry owns 12 Grimauld Place, the locket could easily have turned up there when Regulas was alive, meaning that it would now belong to Harry. Another theory??? Maybe that's what Mundungas was looking for in the house, but unless he had very good trusting contacts, he probably wouldn't know what a horcrux was. What do ppl think of this theory??? |

| I stick with Regulus so far but the bloody baron theory is very interesting. Although al the clues point to Regulus, JKR loves to suprise us with something we would have never expected. But if th baron were R.A.B., why not try to help Harry before? , and really he doesn't seem in my opinion the kind of character who would move a finger against Voldemort, and someone as brave as to do such a thing against him doesn't seem like someone who would choose to remain a ghost. Still possible anyway. |

| There is a website called something like HP Sleuths and it tells you how to find JKR clues. It says that one of JKR's tell-tell signs of a clue is if something is mentioned 3 times. Regulus Black's name is mentioned exactly 3 times in book 6! Just something interesting to point out! |
