Right, is dumbeldore really dead, please someone tell me hes not because I cant cope, a friend of mine has come up with the theory that hes not because:dumbeldore let harry see his memories so he could use them to defeat voldemort and since dumbledore was the only one voldemort ever feared then he would have to be dead, or pretend to be so voldemort would show himself out in the open? What does anyone think?Im not sure about this because V has shown himself plenty when D's been around? Also this rab guy, regulus A black someone has speculated, wasnt he a death eater?im so confused at the mo, was not expecting D to die, though ginny really, whats jk all about, I think i might have to take a day off my work tomorrow, my boyfriend does not understand so im not talking to him, slagging me for crying about "a stupid book" what does he know, i think i might jst leave him, lol, that last bits a joke but what do muggles know!!!!!!

I can't help but think that Dumbledore's really dead, Rowling does't seem like the type to back out of something like this. What I'm wondering is the how of how he died. Dumbledore begging for his lfe doesn't seem in character. The only reason Dumbledore would beg is so that he would die in someone else's place. Remember Dumbledore under the effects of the potion, he was begging the imaginary person to kill him to save others. Perhaps instead of begging Snape to end his life, he was begging him to take it, to save others from some unforseen fate.

Okay, two people use this name, so don't worry, I'm not schizo. Regulus *was* a death eater, but he tried to leave and -whoops- Tom decided he didn't like that. Sirius said something about Voldie killing Reg himself, which was a surprise when he could send his little minions in to do the dirty work. So I'm thinking, Vold wouldn't kill some insignificant little runt unless he was a threat- Regulus could have had something on him that no one else did. Plus, sending others after Reg would only uncork his little secret about the while Horc-thingy. Best way to get something done right is to do it yourself

At first, I was thinking about all the Polyjuice Potion that had been used to that point and was thinking that Dumbledore wasn't dead. Then, I was thinking that Snape simply had to kill Dumbledore to save himself because of the unbreakable vow. As I read on I really started to believe that Dumbledore had served his purpose. That is, he had told Harry everything he needed to know and there no longer was a need for him in the story. Harry knows what must be done and he has a great idea of what the items are that he is searching for. If Dumbledore was still around to help, there wouldn't be the hiccups necessary in the final book.

Right....this is my theory...... Snape had to kill Dumbledore in order for Harry to live...Dumbledore knew what was going to happen, that's why he petrified Harry - so that harry won't be able to defend Dumbledore...Snape was the person that needed to kill Dumbledore, to show that Voldemort can rely on Snape...Snape is a powerful Occlumens and Leglimens (that must be kept in mind), and will have been able to hide this from Voldemort (i think)...but anyway, Snape did not leave the castle so Voldemort could not have read his mind.... Besides, Snape had plenty of time to kill Harry in books 1 - 6....I think that it doesn't matter to Voldemort who kills Harry, as long as he is killed.... Remember that Voldemort doesn't have any real friends, so you can speculate that he is selfish....why risk his own life (again) trying to kill harry when someone else can do it???? When Snape was fleeing with Draco, Harry tried to kill/hex him, but Snape REPEATEDLY said no, stop it...Snape could have easily finished Harry off then... I still think and believe that Snape is still part of the Order...

Yep. I reckon Snape is still part of the order and Dumb let 'himself' (whether it is him or not...??) be killed so that Snape can prove himself; go deep throat (eww! :P ). Naaa!! Dumb has said a hundred times that he trusted Snape (we still don't k now why.. not really) and I still think they are in on this together.

I loved this book. I think Snape made the unbreakable vow because Dumbledore had already made him promise to kill him. He knew he was going to die, and that is why he shared all of this information with Harry. He was sending Harry to get Snape, not so Snape could heal him, but so he could kill him. He knew that Draco and the death eaters were there for him. He also knew that Draco wouldn't be able to go through with it. (again, all my opinion, sorry for being so matter of fact.) I do firmly believe that Snape is still in the order and will play a very interesting role in the next book. How many years will it be before we have that one? Has anyone heard? It was nice to have Harry grow up some in this book and tell people what was going on instead of trying to handle everything himself. I want to see something come of the Percy situation in the next book. I don't wonder if the order has not placed him where he is at also, for maximum effect at the end? Who knows?

well i would like to think that dumby took the noble way out but if snape were still in the order someone else would have known of the plan so they could convey the message otherwise they would all be after snape like they were sirius i mean everyone is against the killer of dumby dumby was the most trusted man ever
