A better death?......I can see your point.

But for a warrior to die in battle for a cause that he truly believes in........pretty good way to go.

Although D's one word to Snape was short and trembling.....I did not see it as weakness. He had already been thru a lot. He knew that Snape would have absolutely no way to make any potion that could save him now. Dumbledore was actually helping to protect Malfoy as well. That was his main drive in life.....Protecting his students.

I am still hoping that D left the important crucial memory in his pensive or some other bottle so that Harry can find it and the Order will know for certain the truth about Snape. (Whether Snape turns out bad or not, I still feel that there is something that D did not reveal before his death.

And as for UnDumbly behavior............That is all book 5 was in my opinion, but then at the end you were given the reason......I am still waiting for explanations in book 7.

UPDATE: And along the lines of a warrior's death......many would prefer a swift death from one of their comrades than to be killed (slowly or otherwise) by an enemy.

I have a question? Didn't Snape kill DD in the Tower? And when Harry came back wasn't he lying on the grass dead? How did he get there?

I do have to agree that I think RAB is Regulus Black as well. He was Sirius' brother and didn't he die by poison? What I am wondering is if he had the chance to destroy the horcrux or not. Maybe not and Kreacher has it. Or maybe it is in 12 Grimwauld place or maybe it was taken by the thief who took the silver? We don't want Voldemort to have gotten it b/c he will hide it again? If it's in the house maybe Bellatrix LeStrange will get in and get it? Was anyone else thrown off by the Lupin/Tonks revelation? What is the purpose in that? And lastly, I do think Dumbledore is really dead. Fawkes sang and is now gone. I think maybe it was necessary for Harry to come into his own to take on Voldemort himself, although I don't know how good he will fare if he can't even cast a curse or a hex on Snape.

I am new, like alpha. But none of my friends and family have finished yet and I craved an outlet...

I agree, first of all, with all who have said that Snape is, in fact, good. I think the conversation between him and Dumbledore overheard by Hagrid was telling in this regard and I wholeheartedly agree that D was begging to be killed, not saved. As for things seeming "hinky" they did, but it could be a function of D knowing about Snape's vow, and therefore knowing his time with Harry was limited and he needed to make sure Harry knew and saw everything he needed to know and see before D was gone. Maybe. Or Maybe not.

R.A.B.- I think it is either Borgin or Burkes, out to reclaim their items and track down their former employee gone very bad.

If the paintings of the other dead headmasters can talk, won't Dumbledore still be able to communicate with Harry?

Does anyone else feel that with Harry, Ron, and Hermione eschewing Hogwarts next year (Hermione is giving up being Head Girl probably!) this last book will be more like Lord of the Rings? Find the artifact(s), destroy them, destroy ultimate evil, go home.

Just my so far thoughts. Oh, and Ginny will so wait for Harry.

Hey alpha, I am curious if you think that Dumble is more than a wizard. With all of the references to the phoenix (ie The order, fawkes, the burning of the body) do you think it is possible that he may return in the 7th book?

Thumbs up

hi everyone, another newbie here! does anyone know why the phoenix didnt save dumbledore? i thought they could do something with their tears? i cant bring myself to believe that dumble id dead but i would be quite dissapointed in j.k rowling if she brought him back in the next book. it would be a kind of dallas moment! (harry wakes up in the shower etc...) i think dumble had to die to give harry the anger and the determination to seek out voldemort. just my guess tho. its all got soooo infuriatingly cliffhanger-ish!

Hi, I'm a newby, I have a question... Has anyone else noticed the similarity between the Portraits of dead people and a Hurcrux? I mean do the portraits hold some small remnant of their peoples soul or essence or what?
