Help me please!
We've been told that the members of the Order of the Pheonix can
- communicate with each other,
- all they need is a wand to do it and
- we have seen this method of communication from an Order member, before we knew the Order existed.

I have been wracking my brain and can't think of any communication method that fits this. Help me get some sleep please!!!! What do you think?

Do you mean the Penseive? You need a wand to extract the memory... but is that 'communicating' or 'storing??

Hey, what do you think happens when you've put a memory in the Penseive? Do you still have the memory in your head as you're walking around or do you just totally forget it because you've put it in the Penseive? If you forget it... well that's silly! How can you build thoughts/ theorems if you're taking out certain memories?? Do you know what I mean? The Penseive must be for just syphoning off quick thoughts and memories when they're all rushing at you - kinda like when you can't type fast enough! - or whan you need a storage facility. Ahhh, that's the interesting one, did Snape remember the whole 'showing his undies to the school' memory, even after he'd locked it away in the Penseive so Harry wouldn't see it for the occulency lesson??

I can see how the Penseive could be a communication device the same way as I can see the Mirror of Erised could be. Both though, are limited.

Nah, there's gotta be something else. When Cedric Diggory' Dad's head appeared in the fire at the Weasley's (GoF) that was just Floo Powder wasn't it... hmmmm... no wand needed. Still, my BuffyBuff senses are tingling... There was something, I swear in the GoF ... maybe?.. about Ministry folk communicating using their wands alone. Does anyone remember anything like this?????

Hey, while I'm asking the hard questions/ the 'sort the REAL FANS' out from the 'Pretenders' (did that work? Did I raise your ire enough to sporn interest?) can anyone find the sentence in the OotP where it says that Dumbledore, Snape and Lupin are accomplished in occulency?

umm i sorta didnt mean the pensive thing!
sorry i soulda been more exact.

i ment that :u no wen umbridge had harry, ron, hermione, etc... in her office after she court him trying to communitcate with serious to find out weather he was really at the ministry or not.
and harry tryed to tell snape wat was going on just by thinking it!
thats wat i thought but u dont need a wand for that and not every one in the order can do it soo i spose i just ruled that out ! !

but i just cant think of anything else???
ill keep thinking!

I recently just reread the 4th book (for about the fourth time now) and this is the first time I actually thought about that.. And it's a good question, but I believe that they do keep the thoughts in their head as well..but they just dont stay as clear I imagine. Thats what happens to our thoughts, anyways, they grow foggy over a period of time. Anyways, in book 5 when Harry looks in Snape's Pensieve and see's all the tormenting done by his father.. Snape hasn't just put his thoughts in there and forgot them.. he carries them with him, there is the proof in his hatred for Harry...

weezam: Hello. Nice to meet you.
If you keep your thoughts in your head, even after you've syphoned them off into a Penseive, why would Snape do it before Harry threatened to break into Snape's head in the Occulency classes? Gotta assume that Snape had borrowed Dumb's Penseive to put in storage thoughts and memories he didn't want harry to see yeah?

Though, maybe, Snape was putting thoughts in storage for something that had nothing to do with Harry... naaaa! What doesn't have to do with our Harry!!???

The fact that Harry pierced through Snape's Occulemency defences (got into the yucky childhood abuse memories) even though Voldemort hasn't been been able to crack Snape's defences, that we know, seems to hint to this Occulemency and Legimency stuff being V.V. important later.
What do you think????

Unfortunately, occulemency and Legilimency don't seem to require a wand - that I've seen ...??? - so they aren't exactly the Order Members' communication devices that this thingos meant to be abpout... oh well! Ta for replies anyway. What else can we think of????................ hmmmmmm????

Unhappy

yeah.. and speaking of Penseives. On the cover of the 6th book, him and Dumbledore are looking in a penseive, right? I don't know what this means, but is that what they are looking in? Or is it something else we haven't learned about yet?

I'm pretty sure we in Australia, are gonna get the cover with all the golden stars spiralling around harry and (what looks like Dumb.). I've seen other covers though were Harry and Dum(?) are fighting their way through a forest ...???

Do you know the line in OotP that says Dumb., Snape and Lupin are good at Occulency and Legemency? I've been trying to find it again. Does it exist?

Why would Snape put the memory in the pensive in the first place? If he doesn't forget them, and he doesn't want anyone to see them, then why doesn't he just keep them in his head?
