I know the feeling of your thoughts wizzzing so fast and in endless circles so that it feels like you can't make sense of anything. I don't understand how popping a few memories/thoughts into a basin is gonna help though. Wouldn't you be too concerned how the 'syphoned memories' would 'relate' to the thoughts in your head (even if they are TOTALLY unrelated) to actually get on with your thinking?; like, these memories would become just something else/ one more concern to throw into the mix, rather than easing the pressure. I dunno, I think the Penseive is a glorified diary. What if the Penseive is like a diary but better: Not only do you get to remember the thoughts/ images EXACTLY the way that they happened, close to the time that they happened (ie, not tainted by time) but you pull them out of your head for posterity (ie, others can see what happened just as YOU saw it - a subjective video camera). What do yopu reckon???? Is the Penseive like a video diary? Do you still have thoughts and memories in your head even when you've 'syphoned' them into the Penseive? / What does 'syphoning' mean? I really like weezam's idea that the thoughts in a Penseive are 'sharper'/ more important than the ones in your head so you don't extract or 'syphon' your thoughts/ memories but more 'dim' them from your thought process by placing them in the Penceive. (Have I read you right weezem???) What do you think??? Thoughts/ You are MY Penseive!: If you could get rid of all your memories- good or bad- , your whole personality would change surely??? Therfeore the Penseive's just about duplicating important memories to replay them and try to find some kinda connection between them when they are whirring about and not making sense... Yeah ??? ie. The Penseive does NOT RID the person fo their memories just duplicates them. K, so what was Snape doing 'Penseivin' ' those awful child abuse memories?? What did those memories have to do with anyhting that was going on/ what were they connected to?? Who's Snape's parents? Are these memories signifivant or are we just meant to feel soory for Snape/ buyttrering us up for some sypathetic disclosure later ? maybe, buttering us up for Snape and Harry reconciliation???? |

Did Snape syphon off only memories to do with James?? Why didn't we see the memory when James 'saved' Siverius' life??? What's he hiding about THAT memory?? |

| YOu think Dumbledore told Snape what to put in the Penseive??? I never thought of that. How did Dumb know what was in Snape's mind? How did Dumb know what Snape remembered, saw and therefore, felt about stuff that happened to him? I get the impression that Dumb underestimates the hatred Snape had for James and has for HArry. I think Dumb thinks that everyone is as reasonable, mature and knowledgable as he is and this is Dumb's failing. Are we all suggesting that the way the Members communicate with each other, using a wand, is the Penseive???? It is a way to 'communicate' with the dead, kinda, I suppose....??? Don't think I'd call it communicating though. More 'sharing memories' |
