Dumbledore an Animagus? I think this has been mentioned before, but I can't remember what people had to say about it if it was.
What if Dumbledore is an animagus? Humor me for a second.
In HBP (pg.645) in the chapter "The White Tomb" there is this moment:
"Bright white flames had erupted around Dumbledore's body and the table upon which it lay: Higher and higher they rose, obscuring the body. White smoke spiraled into the air and made strange shapes: Harry thought, for one heart-stopping moment, that he saw a phoenix fly joyfully into the blue."
What if Harry wasn't mistaken? What if he did see an actual phoenix? JKR has often (like many other writers of mystery) revealed important information in what seem at the moment to be throw away comments.
I believe when asked, JKR even said that if Dumbledore was an animagus it would be a phoenix. Also of note is she makes a point of saying that the flames obscure the body: no one would be able to see him transform.
In any case, even if it wasn't an actual phoenix, I still find it symbolically important. |
