I wondered if Dumbledore dies to give Harry the same protection he had when harry's mother died for him. I suspected that at the end of the goblet of fire, when Dumbledore mentioned something about having to replace that protection. I think "that old magic" they refer to is love, which dumbledore says is key to defeating voldy; Perhaps dumbledore realizes this is the only way to defeat voldemort - to die to give harry that protection. voldy would have been killed when he tried to kill harry the first time had the horcruxes been destroyed

......hmmm....I never thought of that, good thinking!

Maybe now Harry's "special magic" is stronger now like you said. But maybe even if it was what Dumbledore was intending, it didn't work. That would be sad, but it would kind of make sense in a way, don't you think?

Romulus's suggestion makes too much sense. I don't like it.
I've worked too hard, trying to believe that everything will be fine.

So why, "if it was what Dumbledore was intending, it didn't work."? You lost me.
