Crookshanks-in 3rd book, he is helping Sirius to buy broom for Harry-he's too clever for ordinary cat

the picture harry finds in siriuss bedroom, playing with his birthday present. there is a cat walking around...i remember 'harry knocked him almost out, by passing him with his broom' ... but im not sure the exact words....
i think he must have died by the falling house or so.....cant imagine petunia taking the cat too.
