I don't know whether or nothtis should go into a separate topic, so sorry. . .

But, I had an epiphane last night while rereading the 6th book. Dumbledore never let Snape have the DADA position because he knew the job was cursed. He waited until the right time to let Snape teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. . .There must be some plan in action, but it doesn't seem that Snape knew why Dumbledore wasn't letting him have the job, does it?

Does it ever show that Snape had any idea that he knew why Dumbledore wouldn't let him have the job untill now?

I think that Dumbldor is dead and gone. They might have apart in the seventh book about Harry going back into the Pensieve to visit his memories on Tom or Voldemort(whatever you what to call him)but hes gone!! To me there really wouldn't be a good book with him there. Harry has to fight his battles on his own.

I thought Snape said Dumbledor wouldnt let him have the possition because snape might relapse into the dark arts

Look in the HBP, pg 31.
I'm pretty sure Snape admits to wanting the job and says Dumbledore wouldn't let him near it.
