Did Anyone Else Catch?

Did anyone catch that in this book Professor Slughorn miss called Ron's name and said Rupert? I think that is interesting. I wonder if it was a typo? Or was he suppose to say the wrong name like he did before instead of Ron he said Ralph???

You mean like when Barty Crouch called Percy Weatherby and so....(ha ha ha ha ,that still kills me every time I remember it.Hmmm..,I think it was on purpose because every time he did that Ron got ticked off but I'm not sure.

It was on purpose... I think JK did it so as to show that Slughorn didn't really pay attention to the students that weren't in his Slug Club.
And "Rupert" is also the name of the boy that plays Ron in the movies, I think she had him in mind when she was writing that particular scene

Yes. That is why I found it ironic she used the actors name. I didn't catch that the first time I read it. It pays to read things again sometimes.

"Yeah, perce, you know what? I rackon he might evenn know your name by now!"

that's what i think. slughorn only bothered to pay attention to his favorites in the 'slug club' and ron wasn't in it. i think he only used the name 'ron' a few times, and the rest of the time, he didn't really learn his name. he said 'ralph' and 'rupert' a lot, which makes me suspect that he never really cared about ron, especially not getting his name correct. i would die if a teacher did that to me!
