I don't like him though I can not decide if he is bad or not yet.

Anyone notice the similarity of Snape and Voldemort? They both had a Muggle Father and a pure blood mother (both of which were not that goodlooking per their discriptions in the book). And How they both really wanted to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? It makes me think more that there is something more going on with the parallel lives those 2 live.

I don't honestly believe DD is dead, so there is my problem with your last reason. However I have a similar problem with not knowing how to feel about Snape. Lupin gave all a lot of insight into why he has a genuine reason to dislike the potter family. He seems like a bit of a loner who never had many friends.

Here is my wild theory. Snape is good. When he made the unbreakablve vow he actully didn't know what malfoys plan was. he just acted as though he did in an attempt to get them to tell him. therefore when he made the vow he didn't know the plan that he was supposed to be helping malfoy with, so he can't be held accountable for it.
