Default Durmstrang?

Just a question.

Where do you think the Durmstrang school is based?

Russia? Germany? Hungary? Poland?
It really could be anywhere in Eastern Europe I'm thinking.

Well, I thought Russia rather than Germany because they are more powerful today. The others aren't. I also thought Russia because their outfits seemed so Siberian Reminded me of pictures of Nicholas with his daughters in exile.

I think the 'bulgarian' connection is only because of the Quidditch world series and viktor krum is bulgarian.

I thought that too, but I didn't have time to look it up.

I've also been thinking that Durmstrang is a school for wizards (boys) only.
Beauxbaton a school for witches. (girls)

I don't think the books specifically spell that out.... but I believe it is implied.

Yes Rita. agreed.
but somehow I get the feeling that Durmstrang is much further north than Bulgaria.

How many high level sports people play for the area where they were born/grew up/went to school?

Incidentally

Sturm & Drang - is german for - storm & stress...
I also think Durmstrang is a play on those german words.

similarly gingobibble is a play on the words 'bimbo giggle' - albeit - initially an un-intentional play on words....

in the 4th book there r boys and girls from beaux and durm. the idea comes from the movie i think, there u had only "veela" girls from beaux and "muscle" boys from durm.
