Right Potterdog. That's what bothers me. Something in Dumbledore's radar should have picked up a blip. He seems to know when Harry's in trouble. You would think he could do a mind sweep of the entire castle and nail the bad guys. I wonder what Quirrell looked like on the Marauders Map. Did it just have Quirrell's footprints? Wish I knew.

Maybe the Marauders Map only maps footprints. So if your feet don't touch the ground, you go undetected. Nearly headless Nick wasn't on the map, for example.

Dear Zonko et al.,
The Marauders' Map gets back to Harry- it's left on his bed or Dumbledore gives it to him???- at the end of GoF. Harry uses it to check the coast is clear when the Dumbledore's Army members are going home of an evening in OotP.

You are absolutely right; why doesn't Dumbledore have a similar dodad? All his powers and shiny, spinderly, puffing thingys in his office and no foe-glassesque bad-guy detectors?! Dumbledore says he has been watching Harry "closer than you could ever imagine", maybe he should cast his perving....sorry... survalence a little further afield.

katy: So you think Quirrell was wearing a lead-lined turban and Dumbledore couldn't pick it up on his radar? LOL Good one.

Buffy: I have the same problem with Dumbledore and the Time Turner. If you can use the Time Turner to save creatures before they die, then why didn't Dumbledore go back and save Lily and James Potter? Can it only be used on the same day that someone died? But wouldn't Dumbledore be the first to know who Voldemort killed? And if he suspected that Lily and James were on Voldemort's hit list, why couldn't those two have had a portkey nearby at all times that would allow them instant escape? Trouble is, we don't really know that much about how Dumbledore operates.

personaly I do not allways Like the way he work's but i would imagine that he did not go back in time because the ministry had it in their possesion, and if he did ask to use it then he would have been told no because that would mean that V would be alive and well, which would be bad for everone. It just sucks when you have to choose between the lessor of two evils. I also believe their are laws to how you can use a time device, it can not be for life changing events or anything.

Katy: Yup it gets late. You look at these posts and the brain starts to swim and then it bobs and then it sinks. Time to call it a day. Catch you later alligator!

Yeah you're right about the portkey as an emergency exit.. why not have one for the Potters? Hey maybe THAT was what Dumbledore was writing to Petunia about, setting up a portkey into their home just in case?? I'm tired too and it's only 5:15 in the evening here AND I've had a good nights sleep!!! Naaa there's no excuse for this one.

Dumb. couldn't have used the time turner though, 'cause isn't the cardinal rule that you're not allowed to change things that have happened AND #1 rule, that you're not allowed to mess around with death? Maybe I'm confusing the last point with some other witchy-poo story I've read.

We need to know more about the night the Potters died AND about Dumbledore (he hasn't told all yet. No... not by a long shot (what does that mean?), mark my words (what does that mean?). *sinister gaffaw*(what does that mean?)
