| This is an interesting notion. I had just taken it for granted that Sirius was in shock, because he saw, all at once, the dead end he had just traveled down. There might be some arguement to be made that Fudge took matters into his own hands, so to speak. It would be hard for Sirius to prove his mental condition, on any one random night (meaning, he had no reason to suspect how badly twisted events would turn out). But I'm not so sure that the Ministry needed the help to convict him. Stan Shunpike was locked up on what seems to be a wld suspicion. Granted, it was under the authority of a new Minister, but I got the impression that the Ministry, as a whole, felt the need to arrest first and -maybe- ask questions later. |

Whether "Little Peter got the better" of him or wimpy, prudish Fudge turned Death Eater, Laughing at either scenario makes the same kind of sense. Quote:

| I have always thought that Fudge was more of a hanger on. Always following somebody. It could be that he is a death eater just like Barty Crouch Jr was. It would make sense. Yet at the same time I think he (Fudge) is to weak minded to really be a death eater. What about Fudge being under one of the unforgivable curses? |
