Severus Snape & James Potter

'Yes...' said Dumbledore dreamily. 'Funny, the way people's minds work, isn't it? Professor Snape couldn't bear being in your father's debt.... I do believe he worked so hard to protect you this year because he felt that would make him and your father quits. Then he could go back to hating your father's memory in peace...'

How did James Potter save my dear misunderstood Severus?

Didn't James save him from being attacked by Remus ...one night when Sev had snuck out after the boys to the shrieking shack? Reference ??? ummm would have to look it up

Sirius thought it would be funny to send Snape out there, and told him to poke the knothole with a long stick. Snape went down. James, hearing what Sirius had done, went after him. He saved Snape, but not before Severus got a glimpse of Lupin.
Snape always claimed it was to save James's own neck, (a.k.a. get him out of trouble). But somehow I doubt it.

well, james saved severus from remus, wen he transformed. out of his curiosity, snape went after them & was caught in there. so, james saved him!!

yes he saved him from remus. but i always wondered later if snape was trying to protect harry his first year because of lily.

Don't u guys think that's a bit weird. Returning the fabour so that u can go on hating the person in peace. He needs help. Don't u think. But he vame through for Harry so i think James would have taken it as the debt being paid.. But now Harry still has to put up with that full blown hatred. Thats sad but he'll survive.
