I don't like the US cover, but in comparison to the UK cover it's a lot better to me. The darker cover with the locket is the UK Adult version, and I also prefer that cover. But then I thought- damn, that's as Slytherin of a cover you're ever going to get. And of course I only wanted it more, but I could see why they would want something that appealed more broadly.

Hermione is so ridiculously wrong looking on the UK version. But what interested me was that the UK version has the whole summary, and the US version just has:
We now present the seventh
And final installment
In the epic tale of
Harry Potter.
Which actually fit in quite well with the dedication- but really, dramatic much?

ok i am american and any of the brittish slang i figured out easily and i have a view that 1% of the world is smart and 99% of the world is dumb and i dont get why they have to make different versions for each country who cares but for DH i like the american cover best the middle one just sucks and the last one looks like a cover from the book my grandma would read o and for the cover art you have to remember that someone draws and they may have a different mental image of harry and the other characters you guys are way to critical of the cover remember dont judge a book bu its cover

I have to say I much prefer the Adult UK covers over any others...so much so that I paid quite a bit for the entire series (over $400) to get unread copies that were First Edition - First Printing. The series will be quite collectible in its entirety all 1st/1st unread. All for the love of Harry Potter...sheesh!

The Adult UK cover, at least for DH, was definitely the best. It had...hm, I don't know, taste the other two covers lacked.
We're not judging a book by it's cover, we're judging a book cover by it's art.

but where is that art on the cover so therefore you are judging by its cover and who cares how it looks if you cared how it looked then go watch a movie that why you have an imagination so you can make it look how you want if hear a description of someone i may focus on how the nose looks while you focus on the eyes or legs or hair so you will never find cover art that pleases that has a drawing of a character unless you can place that mental image on paper

It's cover art. I'm judging the cover, by the cover. I'm not commentating on the actual books, which I generally love, but on the cover art.
Obviously, everyone has their personal interpretations of what the characyers should look like. However, the complaint about the US DH cover is that it depicts an incorrect scene- Harry is missing Draco's wand. The UK one is just...unflattering.
