Several! What's funny is that Rupert dislikes spiders just as much as Ron does....according to an interview I saw of Rupert.

Ron's not a wimp!!! Maybe around spiders, but come on, that was his biggest fear- which he overcame more than once! How DARE Rupert Grint consider Ron even slightly wimpy?

I agree! He's not a wimp. He may be apprehensive about some stuff, but he still jumps in and faces it....

When we think of what their fears are, we realize just how much they were still kids, especially in the third book. Seriously, spiders? And Hermione with McGonogall (though I can completely emphasize with the fear of failing, the manifestation was a bit pitiful.)
Harry was afraid of dementors. And that may have been even more instinctual than actually wise.
I mean, if I was living in that time at the thick of it I'd have a boggart more like Mrs. Weasley's in OotP.

And Ron and Spiders probably got mentioned at around 2-4 times in each of the eariler books .

We all have fears, Ron has shown us that you can face them and still live. I don't know if I could have walked in that hollow in the middle of all of those spiders, even with Harry at my side. The only thing that would have made my legs move was not wanting any thing to happen to Harry, and that was probibly what made Rons legs move.
