No. Priority One would hav been to check on Sirius and notify the Order, which he did. Communicating with Harry would have been counter-productive.
a) It would have given Umbridge a clue, as I said before.
b) It would have given Harry a clue. And Harry, being an open book, would have given Voldemort a clue. Harry was often kept in the dark for a reason.
