Not really. I said he thought he was doing the right thing. Theres a difference.
Snape always understimated Harry. Not just Snape, almost all the adults. The right thing would probably have been to also make sure that Harry didn't go running off somewhere. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Yeah, Fanny, Snape was brave. He had to be. But he had no choice but to be brave, really. He'd painted himself into a corner he could never have got out of unless he played both sides a little, or appeared to be at least. He was actually quite dumb in the beginning. By the time he did grow some senses, he'd already been party to quite a lot of damage.

I agree there. Ron and Hermione were quite brave at times. And Harry being the central character also had to be. But it would be wrong to deny that Snape was brave. He was. Playing both sides can be a cowardly thing. But he was actually Dumbledore's man in the end. He wasn't playing both sides and staying safe at either end, he was actually only working for Dumbledore. He was a good actor, and a brave one.

Things to leave us pondering! |
I think you're right, Shade. But it's quite apparent that not everyone came to love Snape in the end. There are still mixed feelings about him.
