But really. How can anyone consider Snape horrible? Compare him to Bellatrix or Voldemort for evil... he seems like a saint next to them... compare him to the Malfoys and Pettigrew for cowardice... bravest man you'll ever know.

oh poor snape lol. there is just one tiny little issue...in order of the phoenix...when umbridge catches harry and his friends in her office when they are trying to contact sirius, snape is called. harry makes it clear to him what he is thinking and trying to do. and snape understands. i thought then that snape would confince harry that he is wrong. not just saying dont talk rubbish potter.
its true he couldnt have said much in front of umbridge...but there are other ways..occlumencie..or just intensly looking harry into the eye and saying: i know you are talking nonsense harry! do you hear me! i am SURE you are talking nonsense! somethink like that would have been enough for hermione for example to understand....
so i dont think snape really cared there for sirius..which is...not fair..

well love, u r right. but snape did alert the order at once. Umbridge was such a cunningly clever woman that she might have guesed something.. and moreover, when have we (snape supporters) said that snape was saint?

hey,you were right he warned the order but if we think about it from the begining snape hated harry and delivered that to us and in the end...he tried to protect him!!.

Eh.. isn't that pretty much what snape did and said to Harry most of the time.

Fair? Why'd Snape have to be fair? Those two hated each other from the get go. Snape thought he was doing the right thing by letting the OOTP know.

Eh.. I never saw him trying to protect Harry in the end to be honest. I thought he was trying to fulfill Dumby's wish by bringing Harry out to meet Voldy. Which I think was so that Voldy could kill Harry and Harry could die and come back and blah blah blah blah..

Snape did exactly the right thing in that situation.
Umbridge was aware and was looking for any clue at all.
If Snape had communicated anything at all, by any means at all, she would have known.
Harry is an open book.
Shape himself was in danger of being detained.
Regardless of how he or anyone else felt about it, he understood that he needed to get Harry's message out.

He did the right thing.
