weak point. Just because Harry thought they were brave doesn't mean that Harry forgave Snape he just gained respect for him. Why would Snape try to do all of this crap to Harry just to protect him. Trying to get him expelled is not protecting him its putting more people in danger. Snape hated Harry because he looked like James. Snape didn't care for Harry he was just protecting him because Dumbledore asked him.

'so you have grown to care for the boy'
'always'

Doesn't this prove that Snape always cared for Harry?
Snape was more comfortable being a hated person i think. When it is ALL you know. going back to Snape's Hogwarts days and then Death Eater days...

I think he got used to having a certain type of public persona/character.

Imagine - if Snape had favoured Harry - the backlash from Slytherin parents... other Slytherin kids... the Malfoys... SNAPE had NO choice but to treat Harry the way that he did.

Snape always helped Harry when it mattered. for Snape to try to expel Harry, do you honestly think Dumbledore (who had the final say) would have agreed? I'm sure Snape knew that Dumbledore would never expel Harry. I think Snape trying to expel Harry was more about 'keeping up appearances' and acting in a consistent manner, rather than a genuine need to expel HP.

'always'

ja - agreed.
I couldn't remember exactly - but the message behind it - is still the same.

wow - thanks seiyo. I was starting to think you were unreachable.

thanks for the acknowledgement.
Snape isn't easy to like. I don't think he is meant to be easy to like.
Snape - makes you think.

This is why I like Snape. You have to work hard to understand him - or to try to understand him. I love the questions about why people hate Snape.
Makes me think more. As I answer yet another 'we hate Snape because' - I find there is more to Snape to like.

so, the more people criticise about him, the more I end up liking my dear Severus.

You very welcome.
But it still doesn't change my mind about Snape not even a bit.

I agree
