Just a quick question. Does anyone have any idea why Peter Pettigrew was sorted into Gryffindor if he is an evil wizard? I would think he would sorted into Slytherin. Hmmm... Maybe it is because he will do something brave later on.

Yep! In the book it says that he owes Harry, right? Well, if he doe then he might save Harry, but I think it might be too much bove him to do it.

i think that he was a true gryffindore when he came to hogwarts... then he started to be stupid and evil... i do not think that he will be brave... and i dont know if i want him to becuase then it would mean that i have to like him.. and i do not want to like him..!!!

I think HP is a Gryffindor always!! Ron Hermione, and Harry = BFF And, why does Hermione always do her SPEW thing, house elves want to work (except for Dobby)!

I don't remember the books ever saying that Pete was in Gryffindor, perhaps he WAS in Slytherin, & he just happened to become friends with te others.
I'm pretty sure the sorting hat knew what it was doing when it sorted him. Maybe he asked to not be put in Slytherin.
Also, Slythering is said to turn out the most bad wizards, not the ONLY bad wizards.

Showing courage isn't always associated with noble deeds. One can be both brave and foolhardy or brave and wicked. Peter Pettigrew demonstrated courage in cutting off his own finger to frame Sirius Black. And it took courage, even among Death Eaters, to serve Valdemort. Bravery is an adrenaline rush but it is the rational mind that directs the energy. The sorting hat may have detected the physical energy necessary for brave actions even though there was a distinct lack of judgment. So it is possible that Pettigrew could have been sorted into Gryffindor at the age of 11.

Hey, Neville was a total loser when he was 11. Still kinda is a coward, though he tried to beat-up Malfoy in book 5, which is a good start for courage.
