Maybe splitting it will mean that they can fit more in, so that they don't have to mess it up like with the others. I would have found OOTP really confusing if I hadn't read the book, cause it don't explain all the important details properly.

After Dobbys burial is a good idea, because everything that happens after can't be out of the story. I just hope that thy don't butcher the story like they did with OoP

I did think it should be just after the snatchers catch them, maybe just as they are standing outside Malfoy Manor as that would be a good cliffhanger but now I seen your replies I agree that after Dobby's burial would be a good place to end the first half. I really hope they make a good job of this last film or there are gonna be a lot of dissapointed fans. At least with the split they'll have more time to fit everythibng in so no excuses for missing things or people (or houselves!) out

By making it into two movies they don't have any reason to leave anything out. But, where to cut it? I agree, I think when Dobby is buried by Harry is a good place to end the first half. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are back together and have to start thinking of a plan to get the Griffendor sword. That would be a good place to start the last half.

They'll have to leave something out or the movie will last forever. In the first movies they cut it out even if they weren't that long.
In the 3rd, they didn't even mention the padfoot story, or how crookshanks helped Sirius.
In Oof they didn't tell us about propecy, and we can't know why Severus is so guilty actually..
they'll probobly change it a bit again, enough to change the story, but still able to finish it nicely.

i think the Dobby's burial is good, but too close to the end, especially if they leave anything out!
than the whole movie will be hogwarts battle, which is kinda boring.
Ron return is good, just like Dobby's funural, those three are together again.. and the biggest adventures are still to be seen.

Good luck, boycotting a Harry Potter movie.

The feeling after burying Dobby was an "As God is my witness" kind of anger. Not technically a cliffhanger, but still a kind of tension before the break.

Not at all. They'll need to do a lot of refreshing the audience's memory, while the trio are plotting. Then Gringotts, riding the dragon, that big moment when the goblin tells Voldemort about the stolen cup, hanging with Aberforth, Grindelwald flashbacks... Yes, it all one day, but it was a roller-coaster of a day.

Then Gringotts - who knows what will they make out of that, you can't expect them to show the goblin's questioning, the tunnel and their search for cup as half of the movie
riding the dragon - that won't last more than 2 minutes
that big moment when the goblin tells Voldemort about the stolen cup - like they're going to make it such a big moment
hanging with Aberforth - i'd rather think they will skip the whole "Dumbledore's family" story.. what difference does it make if they do?
Grindelwald flashbacks - they also have no reason to mention Grindelwald
And after all that, there's still that Hogwarts battle, and the movie will look like LOTR.. at it's worst scens
