HP crazy- True! I hadn't thought of that! Lupin and Sirius probably would have recognized Crookshanks had he been the Potters' cat.

If that's the case, wouldn't have Sirius pointed that out to them? He specifically mentioned the cat helping him...don't you think he would have said something then?

Plus, that would have made Crookshanks a bit old, don't you think?

I am with Luna on this one. And there were lots of things not mentioned to Harry.....like the map. No one really came out and said who the authors were..they just let Harry figure it out. Or am I mistaken on this?

The marauders map was written by Remus Lupin, Sirrus Black, Petter Pettigrew and James Potter. Lupin himself tells Harry this in the book.
