Well, I don't think it was a particularily political message: but even if it was, I would support it. Any book, even one of fiction, encounters and discusses real-life, political issues. As long as, you know, it doesn't have it's head buried in the proverbial sand.

I agree that for JKR to release this fact at this time definitely speaks of a call for attention, though I don't think I would say it's completely pointless. In some ways it's good to know that at least one character-and which character- is gay in HP.

(On a side note: Remus and Sirius, in the movies? I, for one, wasn't complaining, but they definitely had some chemsitry going there, roflmao.)

Sorry but this is just so much crap. I have no issue with characters being gay but DUMBLEDORE IS NOT!!!!!!!!!! He just wasn't. Severus, I mighta believed it. Filch, yeah maybe. Flitwick, probably. Lupin maaaaaybeeee??? But Dumbledore! OH HELL NO!!! Can you say, ATTENTION!!! Can you say, TRYNA FIND SOME KINDA REASON WHY THIS MAN WHO IS ALMOST PERFECT, WOULD ACT LIKE A COMPLETE AND UTTER D**K WHEN HE WAS YOUNG (Oh yeah that's right he was head over heels with some loser he'd known a few months). WHAT A LOADA CRAP!

In Order of the Phoenix Dumbledore goes to great lengths so as to avoid Harry.
Could he have been removing himself from a deepening attachment and maybe an inappropriate relationship with Harry?

Dumbledore said that he thought he saw Voldemort flickering in Harry's eyes the few times that they were near to each other. Dumbledore was right to stay away, so that Voldemort would not think that Harry was special at all to him, but just a regular student.

He's not gay. Never was! He was just a brilliant man who saw his gift as a blessing and a curse and spent his life trying to make the world a better place rather than forming relationships. HE'S NOT GAY!
(And don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-gay or anything but please don't make up bulls**t just coz ya series has ended)!!!!

I didn't see it coming - but I'm ok with it. I have some gay friends that you would never in a million years guess that they were gay.

Gingo, it's not that I never guessed he was gay. The reason it's rubbish is because she is BLATENTLY tryna get some added attention now that HP is over. I wouldn't have had so much issue if she had said this a few years ago. He coulda been a brilliant gay man (although, I don't see that it mattered one way or the other)
But the fact is, the way I see it, is that she dragged DD's name through the mud in DH (one of the initial reasons why I didn't like the book). Now she is trying to make excuses for this by saying, oh actually he acted like a d**k because he was blinded by love. I don't think DD has always been gay in J.Ks mind (despite what she says). I think she spent the whole of DH almost ruining a character and than made an excuse for it which fitted around the plot (so if Grindelwald had been a girl, I don't think DD woulda been gay accordin to JK - iykwim)

in DH i liked the fact that she dragged hid name through them mud it just gives you perspective that not everyone liked DD and it didnt change my opinion of him it just gave me a better look in to his mind
