TIRADE TIRADE TIRADE TIRADE TIRADE TIRADE TIRADE TIRADETIRADE TIRADE
TIRADE happens to have quite a lot to offer. Amenities such as realism, objectivity, ranting, logic, sarcasm, intellect, enthusiasm, and cookies help to make TIRADE an efficient, succesful, ultimately superior organization.

Without using a barrage of postmarks, let me make the following comments.
-I have been informed of your (seasonal) dislike of Becca and myself, Feathers.
-Unfortunately, in a grade war you are rather doomed to lose as: 104, 102, 104, 100...no, my apologies, that's a 103...
-Cookies, warm, fresh, and in abundant variety. Suited for various tastes, including but not limited to complete chocoholics.
(-Would it be overly cruel, Becca, to say that a reason to join TIRADE is the lack of cheerleaders? How they managed to talk Alo into the miniskirts is seriously beyond me...)

Feathers, you are gettin very tense. Why don't you read a nice a book to relax. I don't recommend DH tho. Loada crap!
Teddy - Lol. Cruel yes but very true.
Gingo. Hmmmm, you're gettin there. However, I must remain with Teddy on this one. Honesty is the best policy. We are honest about our disappointment. Can you say the same? (And I wanted ice-cream - mint, chocolate chip please)!
As for the grade war - I don't even qualify as I left school 6 years ago!! Ahhhh! I'm old!!!

you may be honest about your disappointment - but the trick is - to find something positive for every negative.

If you only do negative, negative, negative - it gets old very quickly.

I do and have questioned things. However, in the same post I try to find the answer myself and suggest reasons why. If you read my posts carefully you would have noticed these occurrences.

ps - we got all kinds of Ice-cream - being a Durmstranger, we have control over all things ice, snow, fire & chocolate!
join us, join us, - isn't it more fun to be around positive folk who have every flavour of ice cream imaginable?

I can see the benefits of being positive. But if we all agreed that DH was amazing, you would soon get bored of saying how much you loved it. You need us to keep DA up and running. We Tiraders can rant all day long without any help thank you very much!

it's not about being totally positive.
it is about learning how to say 'I don't like something and then providing a reason and challenging yourself to think about what can be learnt from something'.

there was a time when nearly every thread & response was so negative and hateful it seemed like it was the 'popular bandwagon' to join.

DA is 'comic relief' of sorts - and to also challenge you to try to provide a good with a bad. Not just talk about the bad and the bad.

I hope my intent seems clearer.

anyhoo - cookies & cream ice cream for dessert today!!!! yummmmmm

You still can't call me stupid.
And I am not a cheerleader, nor will I ever be one.
I think Alo just joined for the free cake, though.
Have you ever had Warm Chocalate Melting Cake?
Because if you have not, you have no right to judge any type of cake.
Warm Chocalate Melting Cake is one of the most delectible desserts on this earth.
Now you understand why you MUST Join DA!!!!!

Feathers.
Ok baby girl. You are not stupid or a cheerleader. Happy now?? In fact you are a hell of a lot more intelligent than me. Member, I'm 21, you're 12. Think that goes to show you know ya stuff girl. And fair play!
And Gingo, will this do: I don't like DH, because it was crap and from this I learn: J.K is flawed as a writer. ???? Or is that harsh?
No, I'm playin. It's good to be positive. But it's hard when you're disappointed. I just expected the same standard as the other books. Maybe that was too much to ask.
AND I WILL NOT BE BRIBED WITH FOOD!!! YA HEAR!!!
TIRADER FOR LIFE BABY!

I have a simple argument: I, unlike you, actually liked DH. I think it was well written, made perfect sense, and had a happy ending. Also: What good is a new Harry Potter book without some new things thrown in? What would the CoS have been without the Basilisk? What would PoA have been without Dementors(And Sirius, Becca)? What would GoF have been without the Triwizard Tournament? What would OotP have been without the prophecy? What would HBP have been without Slughorn? And what would DH have been without THE DEATHLY HALLOWS? The only reason Teddy thinks the Deathly Hallows were pointless is because they have no effect in the later books. The problem is, there are no more books. THAT, I believe, is what is really driving your arguments.
P.S. And Becca, I am not bribing you with just any food. This is Warm Chocalate Melting Cake.

No, no, hedwig, you certainly aren't the cheerleader. But there was a....certain someone *cough cough* who gave off some cheerleader vibes on this thread...ahem.

Well, the thing is that although there are reasons why DH is likeable, it WASN'T well-written (especially in comparison to the quality of the previous books), it DIDN'T make perfect sense (in terms of plot lines it was really tangled) and, although it had a happy ending for some of the characters, it certainly didn't give a happy ending to Severus, or Remus, or Tonks/Teddy. Which is really quite maddening when those are your favorite characters.
There is a fine line between ingenious originality in inventing and incorporating things such as the time-turner, the basilisk, etc. and exploiting author's licsense out of conveniece. The Deathly Hallows doesn't have to resonate in later books because it is the last book, but at the same time, because it IS the last book there are restrictions to how much create completely new plot devices. OotP and HBP both left these huge unfinished bridges that led, in essence, to nowhere, in DH. The Deathly Hallows were pointless because as a whole story arc, they didn't fit in to HP, and secondly, in DH itself, they weren't particularily well-developed either.

(You could bribe me with food on a normal topic. But this is HP we're talking about, and not even Warm Chocolate Cake is going to get you anywhere. )
