ok but see in the sixth book it says that the trace only says a speel was donr not by who so then the ministry could have thought it was the gaunts

yea and who says that there were traces when tom riddle was young i dont remember hearing about a trace

so then why didnt harry used magic while he was at the burrow? the ministry would have thought it was the weasleys. i think it was a trace when vold. was at school ekin, its more possible that what ted sais, riddle having outsmarted the trace.

because the weasleys would get mad at harry and harry doesnt need to risk getting caught and expelled

I think "hell" is your own worst nightmare. For Voldemort to be a weak suffering, helpless, miserable little heap that was probably the ugliest most horrific thing he could imagine. AS someone said before for MR. Power hungry being weak and helpless is the worst.

Also as far as the trace --all the illegal magic he performed was in the home of wizards so the trace wouldn't have shown the ministry who performed it. Remember when Dobby dropped the pudding Harry was blamed! In a muggle home who ELSE could have performed the magic but Harry!! Plus Volde was smart-- he knew how not to get caught in all his other criminal activities why not this!?
