| You have a very valid point, and well made. Hitler had no monopoly on evil. Perhaps we all focused on that era because of the book's European connections, as in Fleur and Viktor and their respective schools. |

| Galadriel is just so elven that it transcends any kind of male or female biases, to me. Of course, she is a very strong figure, as well as powerful (Helped bring down the forces of Dol Guldur when Lorien was attacked, after all.) She just doesn't really have a counterpart in HP or the real world because of that etherealness. As for the real world connections, I still stand by the idea that it is more about culture and a general historical trend than any specific events. However, as for Grindelwald, I would have to be inclined to say that has definite WWII era allusions. |

Thank you for saying that! I fully agree, and as far as I remember it was one of the things I tryed to say when this thread was started. There are some obvious connections JKR made to WWII, (Dumbledore vs.Grindelwald 1945) BUT she had much more in her mind than that. Otherwise she could have made the connections much more direct. |
