yes i think it was destined the beginning and im glad.
opposites are often said to attract strongly in relationships and they are quite different!

and harry and ginny, i was so glad when that started to happen. cho was way too submissive and shy, and ginny was outgoing and stood up for herself etc. the best part in that was when ron just shrugged after harry and ginnys first kiss.

hahah i can imagine the look on his face!

Congratulations.

I would not go as far as "destined" for either Ron and Hermione or Harry and Ginny, but if you mean by destined that we were all resigned to the fact that JK would eventually create these couples, then you are right by all means.

The bottom line is that R/Hr was been very, very heavily foreshadowed- and for mst purposes- already happened in HBP. However, it was NOT bound to happen in the sense that before JK wrote Ron to have an intrest in Hermione, their personalities seemed compatible for a romantic relationship in any way.

Do you know how HUGE the Weasley family has to be now? Especially considering there are 5 sons who will make their wifes Weasleys, and undoubtedly produce countless cousins. I get headaches just thinking about it.
